3rd Trimester

Do you feel ready and prepared?

If LO was born TONIGHT would you be set and ready for the sweet baby?

I guess I could answer yes, but I would like to have our bedroom to be a little more tidy, to have all of her clothes put away, the carseats installed, and buy a breast pump (and buy her baby monitor, but she'll be in with us for the first 3 months). Aside from that, we are totally ready...but I still feel unprepared for some reason.

So I guess I am ready to have the baby, but I feel unprepared...does that makes sense. Tongue Tied

Re: Do you feel ready and prepared?

  • Nope, not at all.  We have the crib, the dresser is ordered and we have some of the basic clothing items.  His room isn't set up yet and we don't have any of the big items like the carseat.

  • I'm not even close to being ready. We have her crib set up and thats it. No bedding, her clothes aren't even washed, the dresser isn't set up, etc. So, no. I wouldn't be ready at all.

  • yes...but it's number 2 so I don't know if that's a great accomplishment.
  • for the most part-physically we are set-mentally i'm never prepared :)  even with my toddler day to day i'm not mentally prepared :)

car seat can be installed by hubby before baby comes home and breast pump i really have to sterilize this week-and bottles.

  • Yes as far as baby stuff is concerned. No as far as feeling ready to actually have a baby! It is a little scary still! I know it is getting closed but I don't think anything but him actually getting here will really make me feel prepared!

  • Yup...just waiting for him to get here.  I need to change our sheets and DH needs to bring the pnp in our bedroom, but those are things that can be done while I'm still in the hospital.
  • Yep. I'm actually hoping that LO decides to arrive on Wednesday (our 37 week mark), assuming he's good and ready.

I have more things I could do before he gets here (finish sewing changing pad cover, more wall decor for his room) but I honestly feel completely ready to have him now.

I keep telling him, as soon as he's ready, he can come out... Stick out tongue

  • pretty much ready; we have all the major basic items. we need to have the car seats instaled, and DH is bringing the second dresser home from the store this evening - woohoo!

  • Nope, we still have a lot left to buy, prepare, and organize. But LO's don't need much at first so if he did come, we'd manage. I am on here tonight looking at the Bump checklist to make sure I've got a good list of what all we have left to do.
  • I sure am, DH is setting up the glider as we speak. Bag is, oh wait I need to finish packing my bag.  LOL
  • Yes and No... His room is totally ready and has been for weeks. I just need to clear off the guest bed and wash all of his clothes and linens... ok so not totally ready, but set up. I also need to wash his bassinet linens and sterilize bottles. Hopefully BF will work so that wont be an immediate issue. But my apartment is still a disaster! So, I guess no we are not ready yet. And I need to pack a bag, but I hopefully have a good 9 weeks or more.

  • Nope, not even close. We have all the major items but they are still scattered around the house in boxes. DH is working on painting the nursery this week. I told him he has to be done by the end of next weekend. That is when my last shower is so I figure by then I will know what we are getting for gifts and what few last minute things I have to get. I keep telling LO he/she just have to give me until Christmas. By then I WILL be ready.
  • I had my shower yesterday and her nursery is a disaster!  I don't feel 100% ready yet.  I still need a car seat and some other little necessaties.  I didn't sleep well last night.  Well putting away all of her stuff it became very real how close it is and how much we have left to do.  She can stay tight until 40 weeks.

  • No, I have my bedding, some clothes, a bouncy seat from DD, and some leftover clothes from DD. We will be in baby mode after we move in late December. If she were to come early (hope not) my mom and DH would have to do a lot of shopping while i'm in the hospital. I pray that it doesn't happen like that though.
  • Pretty much! I need a breast pump, some PJ's for the hospital and I'd like to make a major grocery store trip. Otherwise, we're all set!!
