Infertility

Freedom Fertility Info.

So I am fairly convinced this cycle didn't work, I just feel nothing right now. So I am already thinking about the next cycle. I would like to use Freed Fertility for my trigger shot (half price!) but I am not sure if I can submit the prescription or if the RE has to. I am not sure how to bring it up with them because they have arrangments with two local pharmacies, so I am not sure if they would be receptive to doing something like this.

Also do you think I can ask to get an HSG? I haven't gotten that test yet, and my RE has never mentioned it to me, and I remember reading on here that it can help to flush things out as well as check to make sure everything is ok in there.

TIA

Re: Freedom Fertility Info.

  • I would never do a medicated cycle without having an HSG.  It is just not worth it to me.  There are no symptoms to tubal factors (blockages) so there is no way to be sure that your tubes are OK.

As far as the meds go, I would just talk to your nurse.  RE's realize that on-line pharmacies such as Freedom are much more reasonably priced for OOP ladies.  They should know what to do.

Yea, I thought it would be part of the tests that I had to do when I first started going there, and there was info about it in my patient package, but they never told me to schedule one, and I know that I would have to go to one of the local hospitals to get the test. Maybe they just forgot? In any case I think I will ask for it.

  • if you feel an HSG is necessary then I say request it. I thought it was part of a standard RE workup, but maybe I'm wrong?

As for the Freedom Pharmacy I think the RNs have to call in the order, but don't be afraid to ask. Your physician is required to supply you with the meds you need from the pharmacies you request to use. They won't be upset :)

  • My RE won't do an HSG until after 3 failed, monitored cycles.  She's the one who called in my Ovidrel prescription to Freedom, as well, although if your RE gives you a written rx, they do have a fax number so I would imagine that you can call them & fax the rx if you're worried about your RE's reaction to the request.

  • I thought HSG was standard before starting a cycle. I would do one because you don't know what could be blocked or if there is anything else preventing the cycle from working.

As for Freedom Fertility, my RE called everything in.  I never received a written prescription.
