cutting the cord

Who should cut the umbilical cord? How do you pick? My mom said I should be careful who I pick b/c the baby would have a close bond w/ that person. Choices: me, mom, best friend, 3 sisters & the dad (but he is not deserving @ this point in time). I'm thinking the doc should b/c it made it possible & he's a neutral party (my body was broken).

This is crazy and stupid. Your baby will have no recollection of who is cutting it's cord. It's all a matter of personal choice of who YOU want to cut it.

Let the dad do it if he wants. It is his baby. But it is not going to matter, the baby will not bond with someone just because they cut the cord.

This! We have no idea who actually cut the cord of either of our girls b/c we had C-sections! Made absolutely no difference in them bonding with ANYONE!!!! My recommendation......stop listening to silly things like this! It will drive you crazy!!!!! The only thing that matters is a healthy baby arriving and a healthy mama!

The dad cuts the cord. Its apart of his special dad experience. I would let him have his moment.

This. Why would you think a crazy thing that the baby can remember who cut the cord.
