We want a not overly popular boy name, and I love Hudson but wondering if it's one of those soon to become too popular names? Nameberry says it was #176 in 2008 which sounds ok, but wondering what everyone else thinks? TIA.
LOL- that is my brother's middle name (he's almost 35) and he got crap for having such an "oddball" name. (We used his MN since he and my dad share their FN)... I LOVE how it's a cool name now. NOT too popular though!
Check out the Social Security Administration website for baby name rankings. It doesn't look like Hudson is in the top 100 in Oregon. To put that in perspective, only 52 children in the whole state were given the name that is # 100. Which means that less than 50 boys born in Oregon in 2008 were named Hudson. I like Hudson! I personally don't know any, but I do see it on these boards frequently. I don't think it is too popular though. Of course, I also named my son Jacob so I'm not the best judge
I live in NY, so I think of the river first. It is not popular here - I have never met anyone with that name or heard of a child with that name. I think it is a nice, unique name - sounds sophisticated.

This is cool- thanks!
I'm ok with it being popular, I guess it's just overly popular that would bother me (and it sounds like it isnt yet). Thanks everyone!
Re: Is Hudson too popular?
We wanted a name that wasn't in the top 100 most popular names. Every year it gets a little closer, but we love the name regardless. Good choice!
Your Hudson is adorable

No, but it's becoming trendy as it is a last name turned first name.
eta: I have seen at least 3 Hudson's on the Bump and I know of 2 people irl who used the name.
Proud mama to a boys- 6/17/09 - a girl 2/23/11- and a boy 8/20/12
This is cool- thanks!
