Little People and books recs for 15 month olds

DD will be 15 months next week and I have 2 questions for those whose LOs are this age and older.

1. What age did your LO really start playing with the Little People?  DD has the bus and always throws the driver out.  lol

2.  What books is your LO really loving now?

TIA

Re: Little People and books recs for 15 month olds

  • 1. She got some for Easter last year and has only really like sucking on them and putting them in her mouth.  So that's a work in progress and she's 17 months now.

    2.  Anything that has Elmo we read 10 times a day.  She also LOVES the book Goodnight Moon.

    What was your question?

Oh yes, Little People. She only has one little car and person so far and is getting more for Christmas, she likes it ok. She likes to drive the car around saying Vroom Vroom.

She loves and and all books, even the pottery barn catalog is fun. LOL.

  • My DD started playing w/ LP more around your LO's age, but she is always more interested in playsets that "do" something. We don't have the bus, but the mini-van gets a lot of action, as does the pirate ship. She's less active w/ the zoo, for some reason. '

Her favorite books now include one called "Little Gorilla" - very simple, very sweet and we got her a small gorilla that she calls "ga-ga" and hugs. She also loves "Good Night Gorilla," "Good Night Moon," "Llama Llama, Red Pajamas."

Thanks I do love her cheeks!!

She loves books too.  That's why I need more.  DH and I are tired of reading the same ones over and over.

  • DS has the Little People Nativity.  We set it up for Christmas.  He moves the pieces all around, throws many of them and likes to try to set the wise men's tenets on top of the palm trees.  He is really captivated by it and makes the animal sounds for the sheep and cow.  I guess the best answer to your question is "What do you mean by "really start playing" with it?" It will be a while before your DD really understands that the driver drives the bus and picks up the other little people and takes them somewhere.

He loves the "Where is Baby's _____?" books.  They are lift the flap.  He also loves his new Olivia board books because we've watched that show on Nick Jr.  Honestly in the last few months I've just seen his love for all books grow.  He likes to pull them all off the shelf and then sit and turn the pages.  Anything Sandra Boynton makes him laugh!

  • 1. DD#2 loves Little People.  Probably started trying to actually play with them around a year or a little earlier but she was mostly copying DD#1.  She loves the farm with tractor a lot.  She's always loved animals and cow was one of her first words ages ago.  The girls also have the Busy Family house (or whatever that's call) and DD#2 will put them to bed and at the table and things like that.

    2. DD#2 loves any books she can "read".  Right now, she's hooked on Brown Bear and If You Give a Mouse a Cookie (and any in that series) and probably knows them both by heart.  She also likes almost any animal book (again hooked on animals) and the peek-a-boo type books (though we have to watch her since she rips off all the flaps).  Otherwise, she'll bring us almost any book and read it with us.  As your DD gets older (around 2ish), check out the Pinkalicious books and Fancy Nancy books (probably closer to 3ish to really love them thought DD#1 liked them by 2.5 or so even if she didn't 100% understand them).

  • Iris really likes touch and feel books right now, like the Usborne books (That's Not My..." and ones with pictures of animals or children.

We also have this book for her called "What Makes a Rainbow?" The Barnes and Noble on Tunnel Road has it :).  It's good for teaching colors and it has ribbons and a pop-up rainbow that she likes.

  • DS loves the Little People farm.  He plays with it all the time and has been for about 4 months now.  Just the other day he was lining all the animals up on the window sill and playing with them.  It was so cute.

As far as books.  DS loves any and all books.  But he really likes scratch and sniff and the touchy feely books.

  • 1. DS doesn't do imaginative play yet (16 MO) with his Little People garage set, but loves to put his cars down the ramp.

    2. He loves this Thomas the Train book with the buttons that makes all kinds of noises and a pop-up steering wheel (I bought it at Michaels with a 40% off coupon that didn't say no books, which they usually do so that had to let me use it).
