Breastfeeding

why is one boob way bigger and engorged??

I woke up this morning (It's morning now where I am) and one boob is way bigger than the other and it's engorged and lumpy.  The other is small and soft.  WTF?  What do I do about this?  Does the bigger boob have more milk or something?? Help!

  • sounds like a clogged duct, milk is just backed up. take a hot shower/bath and massage that boob! =D

ditto..and it is normal for one boob to have more milk than the other and be bigger...but it sounds like a clogged duct.

  • Maybe not a clogged duct...one of my breasts did not produce much milk ever, and always stayed over a cup size smaller and soft. I was still able to breastfeed my daughter for 2.5 years. I still had her nurse on that side, as well as pumped that side--my larger breast always produced about 4 ounces of milk, while the smaller one barely eeked out 1 ounce. If your breast starts to hurt, it would be a clogged duct, but if it doesn't hurt, it may be similar to my situation. Again, I was still able to successfully breastfeed, and at times my daughter preferred the smaller breast. Good luck to you!
