When did you use the conveertable carseat?

I know I've asked this before but I don't feel like searching.  When did you start using the convertible car seat? Ethan is almost 10 months and still in the carrier.  He still fits until we try to put the bundle me in or a winter coat.  I feel like he is too smooshed.  As of his 9 month appt he still had 4 lbs and 4 inches before we had to switch.  I really like the convenience of the carrier but think it might be time to move on.

  • We switched around 6 months, but Charlie was already a chunker at 20lb by then.

  • We switched at about 7 months, right before we went on vacation where we drove 6 hours each way. He seemed so much more comfortable. I thought I would hate it too...but it went fine. It is a pain buckling him in so much when you have to go to a bunch of different places - and he gets mad after too many. But he LOVES riding in the car so much more now.
  • We still use it and I do not think Eve seems smooshed at all.. For a winter coat we obviously have to loosen the straps, but she fits in the seat just fine. Unfortunately, she only has 1 inch left to grow and she will be too tall. In the winter, its going to be SO much easier to have her in the carrier. Even though I HATE carrying the thing..

  • Joe is in his already. Mostly because he never looked comfy in the other and that he is a tank :)

Bella didnt switch until she was a year.

  • 6mths- I SO miss the infant carrier. As heavy as it got it was so nice especially when they're napping.

  • At 6 mos my DD was pushing the weight limit, so we took her out of the carrier.  It was defintiely a big hassle, but I didn't want her to be too big/too heavy.  I'm not sure but you might just want to double check the requirements, like does the top of his head go above the top of the carrier, something like that might say in the directions to switch him out.
  • DD is in hers and shes 5mos-she was an inch away from the height limit.  It is a pain though-you dont realze how nice the carrier is until its gone!  I still havent figured out the whole keeping her warm thing for winter-I dont want to strap her in with bulky stuff on.
  • We switched Eva when she was around 6 months, but she was a moose too.  I just couldn't carry that thing anymore and she was at the height limit.

  • We didn't switch over until about 11 months.  I wanted to use the carrier throughout the winter for convenience.  He was fine as far as weight and height limits go.  If the Bundle Me is too bulky, you can try the Kiddopotamus one that just goes over the top of the carrier.  That's what we used because he got too sweaty with the Bundle Me layer under him.

  • We plan to use it until she is past the height or weight limit.  The car seat installer said that it is safer in a crash than regular car seats, so we plan to use it as long as possible.
  • We switched when she was around 7 months old.  The infant carrier was just getting way too heavy for me to carry.  But I definitely missed the convenience of the infant carrier.  Especially when she fell asleep in the car.  It definitely took some getting used to but I think she was way more comfortable in the bigger seat.

  • we stopped carrying it into places as soon as she was sitting well bc it was just too heavy and it seemed hot in the summer.  We made the actual switch to the convertible seat about 9/10 months.
