2nd Trimester

it's been posted 1000 times....

But I'm finally going maternity clothes shopping today. I have one pair of jeans that my wardrobe has dwindled down to, but are getting too tight. My shirts are also tight, as they weren't very loose before pregnancy to begin with.

I wouldn't be going maternity shopping until I absolutley have to, but I feel that the time is now! I've put it off, and since my mom had offered to take me shopping after seeing me in sweat pants for the last month, I obliged. (so excited about that! I haven't been clothes shopping with my mom since "back to school" in middle school!)

That being said, I know it's been asked where you got your fav maternity jeans, but I'm wondering.... do they make maternity jeans that aren't straight leg or boot cut? I went to Target and the maternity jeans look HORRIBLE on me. I hated them, and instantly felt like this was going to be a long process.

Any find any flared comfy maternity jeans anywhere? If so, where?

  • I would hit Motherhood and Old Navy.  Those are my two favs.  Sometimes Kohls has Motherhood pants on sale but I thought thier maternity section was small.

  • I've gotten two pair of maternity jeans from Motherhood and LOVE them! They are bootcut though. I have a pg friend who bought skinny maternity jeans from GAP and she raves about them...I'm too bootylicious for skinny jeans so I won't be trying the.
  • I hate ON jeans, but I love Motherhood jeans.

  • I've gotten some pants from motherhood and then a pair from GAP.  Between the two of them I LOVe my GAP jeans.  They're so comfy and they had no problem staying up from the day I put them on.  The motherhood ones kept falling off my butt which is what made me go get the Gap jeans.  They're probably twice as much as the ones you can get at motherhood but totally worth it.  Have fun shopping!
  • I highly recommend the full coverage jeans (the full belly thing) because it will last you the entire pregnancy.  I heard the lower cut jeans only work for a couple of months before they too become uncomfortable.

  • I have ON jeans that I love. Bootcut and super cute - it's the super low elastic waist.  They're so comfy, I would wear them even if I wasn't pg!  I think DH was jealous of the elastic waist.

I gave in and have been wearing some mat stuff since Thanksgiving...all my tops are too short since my bewbs are huge and my pants were getting too tight.  I had bought a few things on a good ON sale, so it was easy to slip into.  I still haven't told my students and am trying to cover it up until before Christmas.

  • Old Navy has flare leg jeans, but they're not super flared, kind of closer to boot cut. Gap Maternity has a few different flared styles, and I love them. Much more expensive but they fit better and are more comfortable.

  • I just got another pair of motherhood jeans, I love them. Even the dress pants are great. I order on line because we dont have a store here. I looked at ON but I dont like ON jeans when im not pregnant.
  • I feel like I am in the same boat as you...I did buy one pair of maternity PETITE jeans at Kohl's randomly one day on sale :)  However, I can't wear jeans to work.  I've loved everyone's suggestions and I think I am off to Motherhood today-no Gap in my city :(

Kohl's maternity section is very small and you'll pay at least 50% more for Motherhood brand at Kohl's than you will at Motherhood maternity.  I've been wearing under belly bands on jeans since about 15 weeks and they are awesome. I also have some full panel ones.  I've got friends in their early 30 weeks that are still wearing bands under the belly.

  • I love my Motherhood under belly jeans. I also have their work pants with the secret-fit full-panel. For me, I find the secret-fit panel a bit itchy, but both are comfy to me.

I think under belly vs. full panel is a preference thing. I've known mothers who either love the full panel, or the under belly.

  • So far I have 2 pair from Old Navy, which are both great (but had to be ordered online, bc my ON maternity dept stinks) and  pair of Joe's from Pea in the Pod

  • Motherhoood has a "fit and flare" jean that I love.  I think they run about $40-$50 but worth it.  They have petite, average and tall, too - I think!
  • Gap, Gap, Gap! I got several pair off eBay for cheap and I love them.

Also, if you have a Once Upon a Child in your area, they sell gently used maternity clothes as well.

  • I have a pair of Gap Maternity boot cut jeans that are so comfortable. They were $70, but I think they are have a 25% off sale, not sure if it is in-store or online. I also have a pair of Motherhood Maternity bootcut jeans that are just as comfortable and were only $35. Both have the secret-fit full-panel. I love how thin the material is and you can fold it down.
  • I bought a pair from Motherhood last pregnancy, and wore them bout maybe 5 times before they got a two holes in them when I washed them. So disappointed because they weren't cheap! Old Navy's jeans are fine by me, but I did buy a pair that had teeny tiny pockets which in turn made my ass look HUGE! No bueno! I think I perfer Gap the best out of all of the stores!

Good luck and HAVE FUN!!! :-)
