2nd time baby shower (or sprinkle) anyone?

I asked this on another web board (that shall remain nameless) and got mixed responses.  I didn't, however, ask on a "multiples" thread:

Do you ladies think it's austentatious to have a shower for a second pregnancy?

The reason I ask is because my first born, a girl, was almost 4 years ago adn I don't still hae everything.  Not to mention the fact that even if I did I would still be short 1 of everything because now I'm expecting twins.

 A girlfriend of mine is wanting to host one and she thinks it's fantastic.  She argues that I won't have hardly any of the same invitees as the first shower (since my circle of friends has changed so much) so it's not really like asking for presents again...

...anyone with thoughts either way.

p.s.  I love the idea because I am so overwhelmed with trying to make sure I have enough of the right stuff.  Be honest (nice)!

    We threw one for a friend with twins. She had a boy and was expecting g/g twins. Mostly it was a 'helping hands' shower where people were signing up to help her with food, babysitting, etc after the babies were born. We were all glad to do it.

    my friends threw me a sprinkle for the twins since a) it is twins and they thought it deserved celebrating... and b) i missed my first shower b/c i was in the hospital.

    i think 4 years and twins is a good reason to have a shower/sprinkle! Esp since you have different friends. 

    don't let other boards make you feel bad- they are not as cool as the MoMs :)

    My mom brought this up the other day. I am usually very anti-shower for the second or more child but my mom swears it's not bad etiquette because it's twins. I'm still a little torn, but we'll see as things go on. That being said, I have gotten several invites for "sprinkles" lately for people who just had a kid and are having another and I think it is ridiculous. Just by calling it a sprinkle doesn't make it any less tacky in that situation (I promise I am not being snarky - the situation I am talking about is where the children are like 18 months apart).

    I did a sprinkle for my girlfriend earlier this year.  Se was having another boy 4 years after her first.  We didn't do huge gifts, but it was more just celebration of the mommy and he new baby to be.  Seeing that you're having twins, though I think it would be fine to register for a second set of stuff you know you'll need as well as stuff like the double stroller, etc.

    I think if you are not expecting one/requesting one & someone wants to throw it for you, then go for it!!!! If ppl think that it is weird, they won't come but since most are not the same who came last time, I bet they will all be excited to celebrate with you!

    In my experience it totally depends on your circle of friends/family.  My sister swears that it is tacky but I have friends and co-workers that have done it and no one thinks anything of it.  Esp. if it was 4 years ago and now you are expecting twins.  I have heard of other people doing like a diaper party for a second baby and that is cool.  I don't know about registering for a second baby, I personally wouldn't, but I have seen many people do it.  Art my office we threw a shower for a co-worker that was having her third baby boy!  No one thought anything of it, or at least didn't seem to.  I think it totally depends on the circle you hang with though because some people clearly get offended about it.  GL!

    I too am torn on this issue, my friends really  want to throw me one they say i need to due to triplets.  DD will be 3 when they are born.  Most of my family/friends keep asking us if we are having one or if we are registered anywhere. 
    As far as a sprinkle, i have heard of people doing a "meal" shower where they bring prepared meals to stash in your freezer or gift cards to resturants so youc an order out when the babies come.  I also think the idea of a "helping hands" shower is great! But that is my opinion.
