Trying to Get Pregnant

back to OPK's and FMU

Hi all,

I haven't been on in awhile so some of you may not even know me. Anyway, this cycle i have been using the "Answer" strip OPK tests b/c my cycles have been so all over the map since starting TTC and this came in a pack of 20.  Last cycle I used the Clear Blue Easy which was great but I ran out of tests before I actually o'd.

So, using FMU, the first strip I used (on Tues) really looked like it was positive for O.  Which seemed a bit early but I was excited.  I decided to keep testing the last few days just to compare and the next couple haven't been quite as dark as the first but all look darker than the control stripe.  The package does not say 'don't use FMU'.  On Wed I tried one mid day also which came up negative but I had also drank about 40 oz of water that morning. (The FMU of course had looked positive)

Any thoughts on WTF is going on?  TIA.

Re: back to OPK's and FMU

  • I used those Answer strips for a cycle and I found them really, really difficult to read.

Lots of people will tell you not to use FMU because you may miss your surge because LH starts to build up in your system at around 9-10 am. In a way, this is true. If your surge is short, and you test with FMU, and the surge happends later in the day, you will miss the surge.

However, you can test with FMU and be relatively certain that you will catch your surge, especially if your suge is not short.

FWIW, my RE says to use clearblue opks and test with FMU.
