Does your lo cry in their sleep?

For the passed few nights my child has been crying in her sleep. She doesn't wake up (most of the time). She's just crying. I've tried giving her tylenol & motrin and it's still happening.

Bad dreams? Still in pain & the meds aren't making a dent? Hungry? Thirsty?

Any ideas? I need some sleep.

  • Mine does this, too.  It's usually around the same time every night.  It's been happening for a while.  She usually doesn't even pick up her head.

  • Joseph does this a few times a week.  Sometimes he'll even be sitting up when we go in there but completely asleep.  He doesn't even notice us in the room.  We just lay him back down, rub his back for a minute and he settles down. A friend's pedi told her it could be any number of things but most likely some slight attachment anxiety....they aren't completely awake but transitioning through sleep and alert enough to know you aren't there.    As soon as they transition through the sleep cycle, they get into a deep sleep and stop crying.

  • Mine does sometimes. I think it must be bad dreams. It's upsetting!
  • My DS does this a lot, but wakes up completely and cannot get back to sleep!! I let him CIO and that doesn't work, so he comes into bed with us.  UGH!
