Made my kid cry today... twice... in less than 10 minutes

DS1 that is, 4.5 y.o.

First he was not listening to me so I was trying to come up with a punishment...and was asking him what his punishment should be.

He offered a few suggestions (like eating vegetables every day), which I declined... then he said "how about no TV and no sweets for 5 days".

I said: Sounds a bit harsh, but maybe that's what you need....

Next thing I see - tears pouring down his face. He thought about it some more and got so very upset. I felt horrible, and I did not even punish him yet!

Many hugs and kisses later, he's sitting on my lap and I am telling him stories about him being tiny little baby (he loves listening to stories about him being a baby). I get to the part where mommy was very upset and did not want to go back to work after the end of maternity leave, and he starts crying again! This time he felt bad for me.

Oh man! I was crying too this time.
