What age did dc give up naps? And did you do rest time?

DD will be 3 next week and has not taking a nap all week.  I still want her to stay in her room and rest with atleast a movie for a little bit but its not working.  So what age did dc give up naps and did you still do rest time even if they dont nap?  If you do rest time how long is it for?

    DD is on the verge, and she's almost 3.5. She will still have quiet time, 1 hour. A friend suggested getting books that have a CD or tape w/ them, that their kids would end up starting to read a book and fall asleep. She'll have the option to sit in bed and read/listen to a story or play with stuffed animals. She doesn't really have any other toys in her room.

    I'm not big on letting her watch a movie for official rest time because it doesn't really make her rest. At least that's how DD is.

    Totally at 4 around 3.5 we cut back to 3 days a week and over the summer he cut them all together.

    DD started skipping naps randomly around 20-21 months.  Was down to 4-5 naps per week around 2.  Down to 1-2 naps per week around 2.5.

    She is 3.5 and only naps occasionally (usually when she's really sick).

    From the start though, I've enforced "quiet time."  Before she could read the clock, I just let her play as long as she was happy (sometimes 2 hours or more).  A few months before she turned 3, I put a clock in her room and she knows that she can get up from quiet time at 3.  She usually rests from 1:45 or 2 until 3.  She reads books, plays with toys, etc.  She only comes out of the room to use the bathroom.

    DD#1 is mostly done with naps.  She will maybe nap for an hour (at most) once a week or every two weeks.  We do still do "quiet time".  The girls share a room so the rule is that she can't wake up DD#2 and has to play quietly.  They don't have many toys in their room - just stuffed animals and a few books that get rotated - so that encourages fairly quiet play.  It's for the length of DD#2's nap or about an hour and a half.  Strangely enough, she's a mess if she doesn't get that downtime even though she doesn't sleep.  I think she needs a break as much as I do...  Surprise
