Hi ladies! Long time no see. How are you all?
Any who, we recently learned that Noah has excema. He went to a primary care about a rash that wouldnt go away and thats what it was. They gave me a prescription (antifungal) for the treatment and advised me to use Dove soap and keep him "moist" so the patches can heal up. Well I started putting the ointment on his patches and they all turn red. I dont know if thats normal so I'm putting a call in to the Dr. But my question is how do I know what will trigger an "outbreak"? Will certain things irritate the excema and cause it to spread or come back or get worse? I'm SO confused!
TIA!
Re: Any one have an LO w/Excema?
My DD does quite badly. Definitely limit baths to every other day if you can, and go heavy on creamy lotions. I like aveeno soothing cream, it seems to help the best on her but it's been trial and error over the years.
Hers are triggered by certain fabrics, if she gets sweaty (mainly she gets in behind her knees and in her elbow joints), certain foods even seem to make it worse.
I wondered the same thing. The dr assured me it was excema but because the patches behind his legs were circular he said those might be ring worm. IDK about that.
Do the sell over the counter creams to help w/the patches??
My DS had the same type of thing; red patches on his cheeks and circular looking rash on his butt. my pediatric dermatologist said it was eczema, but couldn't rule out ring worm on his butt. so he prescribed a steroid anti-fungal cream for DS's butt and a hydrocortisone cream for the rest of the rashy areas. we were hestitant to put the hydrocortisone cream on his face, so he said we could use aquaphor. since then, we practically bathe DS in aquaphor every morning and evening on his cheeks. we also use Eucerin, the derm suggested using this cream for rashy babies. he also told us to use Cetaphil wash for bathtime.
as for what triggers the rash, at least for his face, anything and everything. it doesn't seem to go away. especially if he's lying on his side and playing. the derm said that winter months are difficult b/c of the dry heat and that spring and summer will be better.
