I just saw a commercial and thought it looked like something that DD might like, but I've seen people post on here about it being sad or something. What am I missing?

Re: What is so sad about "Up"?
Well put. I love it and so does DD.
We saw it in the movies with DS. He enjoyed it, though it seemed to go a little long.
Warning** Spoiler**
I was expecting only humor from previews, but that isn't the case (though DS wasn't affected b/c he didn't understand). The couple meet as children and then get married. They want children and try for a long time, but are unable to have any and for anyone coping with losing a baby (which I was) or infertility it is especially sad. Then the wife dies. The elderly man is all alone and then befriends the little boy in the movie.
I also bought it this year, but DH and I think we will give it to my sister instead of keep it for DS. He is only 3.5 and we would rather he watch something without the backstory that Up has.
SPOILER -
Kids don't really get it, but DH & I sobbed through the whole thing. It's a good movie, just sad. They meet as kids, they plan for all these adventures and travels they want to do, but real life gets in the way and it never happens, then she dies. He spends the rest of the movie trying to have an adventure for her/in her honor.
It definitely has some sad undertones, but kids will never notice it. The wife's death happens in a montage and is represented subtly enough that a child wouldn't know what was going on. DS had no idea.
I loved it. So did DH and DS.
