but how much caffeine & alcohol do you normally have during your 2ww ?
I know that a bunch of you say that you "drink 'till it's pink" but how many cups of coffee or beers/mixed drinks ( and how often) does that normally entail ?

We are only on cycle #1 of TTC. This time around, I had none. However, I can see that changing if it takes awhile for us to conceive. My SIL goes along with the "drink 'till it's pink." She did with baby #1 and he is as healthy as can be. She miscarried this summer and is currently TTC. She drank on Thanksgiving, I did not.
I think that it is whatever you feel is comfortable.
I cut out caffeine altogether (not just in the 2ww). As for alcohol, if I'm out, I'll have a drink. But I try to cut it out completely.
It's definitely a personal choice.
Well, first of all, I'm not a heavy drinker, so on any given week (TTC or not), I probably only have a few drinks, if any. So, that doesn't change much during the 2ww.
Caffeine - not a coffee drinker, so I pretty much only get caffeine through Diet Coke... trying to cut back on that in general (increase my water, decrease the caffeine and artificial sweeteners).
Probably not much help, but there you are.
I continue to drink a cup or two of green tea a day in my 2ww. I don't drink other caffeine besides a random diet coke or something.
As for alcohol, it depends on what happens to be going on during that time. If there are no events, I'll generally have a glass of wine maybe 2-3 weeknights and a few glasses on the weekends. If it's a party or something, I'll have a few mixed drinks. I honestly don't document every one or even really think about it - I guess that's how small of a thing I consider it.
It took 5 failed IUIs and a failed IVF, but our FET worked!
My pregnancy after Infertility Blog
Our baby girl was born on April 27, 2011!
My first pregnancy, I didn't restrict until I knew I was pregnant. With my second and third, I cut out alcohol and coffee in the 2ww. Same result.
I guess my point, made in a totally Debbie Downer way (sorry!!), is that it didn't make a flipping bit of difference, so I say moderation in all things, but don't worry about a beer or cup of coffee in the 2ww.
I sometimes try not to drink any caffine, but some mornings I have my usual coffee at work - but I try to do only a half a cup. If I'm really, really dragging at work in the afternoon, I'll drink aother 1/2 a cup (but that doesn't happen too often).
I don't drink too much alcohol. I try to limit it during the 2ww - but sometimes I have 1/2 to one beer or one glass of wine.
TTC #1 since June 2009: irregular cycles
BFP 1/20/10, EDD 9/28/10, born 10/5/10
TTC #2 since Nov 2011:
BFP 2/8/12, MC @ 5 weeks; BFP 3/22/12, MC @ 5 1/2 weeks; BFP 9/10/12, MC @ 6 weeks
Started seeing RE Nov 2012. Chromosomal test and all other tests came back "normal". Unexplained MCs. Found mild hytpothyroidism. Two unmedicated cycles, both BFNs. First medicated cycle (clomid, ovidrel) 1/23/13. Low progesterone found during 9DPO P4 test = 7.6. Put on prometrium supplements.
BFP 2/16/13; 2/18/13 (13 dpo): Beta #1=52.8, progesterone=18.7; estrogen = 412; Dr. increased progesterone dosage.
2/21/13 (16 dpo): Beta #2 = 269; progesterone = 32.4
2/25/13 (20 dpo): Beta #3 = 1,236
2/28/13 (23 dpo): Beta #4 = ?? tbd
One of the first things my dr. mentioned was for both (DH&I) of us to watch the alcohol, without even asking me about it. So, I think I'm going to have to show restraint during the holidays! Besides, it's better for the waistline...
My sister finally curtailed her drinking, and after 12 months+ is pg. She thinks it helped.
We've been mostly decaf (maybe 1-2 Cokes/month) for over 5 years, so no changes there.
I could be wrong, but I don't think green tea is advised during the 2ww.
I will have a cup of coffee early on....but I did have two glasses of wine on thanksgiving and I was about 3dpo.....usually i will lay off alcohol all together and cut down on caffeince if possible.....
I was big on the caffeine before TTC but decided to try and cut back so that I'm not quitting cold turkey in the event that I get PG. The "withdrawl headaches" are horrible if you go from lots of caffeine to none all of a sudden.
I've tried to switch to decaf coffee in the morning and have a diet coke in the afternoon (sometimes regular, sometimes caff free). I'm not a big drinker, so only on special occasions do I have a glass of wine or two.

Never in my arms, but always in my heart.
I was just going to say this too.
During the 2ww, I make half-caf coffee and I usually have 1-2 cups. I don't drink at all during the 2ww, but that isn't a big deal because I don't drink very often anyway. My DH and I completely cut out artificial sweeteners in August (a couple of months before we started TTC).
That being said, I usually have about 2 cups of coffee a day and a beer or glass of wine a couple of times a week.

I drink a cup of coffee a few times a week and have the rare diet coke. As for alcohol, I probably have a few glasses of wine a week, and sometimes up to 4-5 on the weekend (maybe once a month). However, I have not drank at all during the 2ww these last three cycles.
I am considering not abstaining completely next 2ww (although not drinking more than a glass) just because it makes me so much more aware and focused on the 2ww when we are out with friends - especially friends with kids!
