This is why I HATE Valentine's Day

DD goes to our daycare after school at 12:20 (the one that's closing in 3 days, btw). DS goes there all day. She found out they are having a small Valentine party before noon when she's in school. She is crushed that she can't hand out Valentines to them, crying about it.  And her name isn't on the Valentine hand-out list.

A 5 year old should not be crying about this stupid holiday! I told her she is always going to be mine and DH's valentine forever, and that's all that matters.

I bought them little handmade heart candies to give at dinner tonight, and that's it.

Did the daycare person assume she was having a party at school? I still wouldn't leave a child out but maybe that was the reasoning?

I hear ya!  DS was upset last night that his little girl friend at school didn't want to be his Valentine.  She told him she wants to be Valentines with another girl in the class and her family, which is totally fine and innocent.  Then he started talking about how no one wanted to be his valentine and I think he thought he wouldn't get any cards from his friends in school today.  I'm sad that he was sad and worried about it before we talked about it last night.  =(

I hope your DD is having a party this AM at least.  It's sad that they couldn't do it in the afternoon when she would be there.

That's strange that they didn't think to include the school age kids. Last year when DD1 was in 1/2 day 4K, we had to do school and daycare valentines. Are they doing valentines at school?
