Re: CIO at 3 years old?!

  • I let my DD CIO any time she feels the need to have a fit at bedtime.  She knows better.
  • Loading the player...
  • DS has been having problems with sleeping lately too. I seriously wonder if there's not a sleep regression at 3 yrs old. Ugh....

  • Ok wait - as soon as I typed that he's quieting down....sort of.  Maybe not.  Ugh.  He's too old for this.

I totally agree. To me by this age it is a behavior issue and I treat it like that.

I completely agree.  If Halee wants to pull that crap she can do it alone with the door closed

Same for both the girls but especially DD#1 and yes we've had it happen recently (like this week).  She has a meltdown at bedtime it's because she's (a) tired or (b) acting up on purpose.  Either way, she can deal with it.

  • I don't think it is CIO if you have to lock them in there room.  My DD responds very well to the removal of cartoons in the AM when it comes to bedtime.
  • Mine would get some CIO if he did that.  We would not have to lock him in his room (although we do close the door...he sleeps best with total darkness).  He would never think of coming out unless we told him he could.
  • ok - I have to go with the opposite. for us (I realize it's all very individual), DS needed extra reassurance at around 2.5. The phase passed, thank you Jeebus. I think it was fear of the dark, etc.

This.  When dd turned about 3 she started having really bad night terrors.  I would not do cio for that at all.  3 is still really young and it kind of depends on what takes place before all the crying begins.  DD would go to sleep fine and then wake up.  I didn't see that as a behavior issue but more from fear of the night.  Hope you ds goes down soon.
