  • Your logic about not donating to charities or research is completely faulty.  Donating money to a cancer research cause actually makes a difference to many many people.  Donating food to a food bank helps feed someone.  Your jump of logic completely astounds me and is a desperate attempt to make me look like the bad guy here.

I did something more than simply taking my sig away.  I have been praying for comfort for the family and friends suffering this loss.  The LEAST people can do is to completely ignore the fact that it even happened, which, I did not do. I know that my leaving my sig up doesn't relay this information, but not every good deed/sympathetic moment/caring gesture doesn't need to be broadcasted from the rooftops.

Sorry, MW hit the nail on the head on this one--it's not just noobs and lurkers who need to do this--ironically, they're just the only ones that get called out for it.  And as for the siggy removal, obviously people can do with their siggies what they wish.  If you choose not to be respectful to someone who's going through a horrible ordeal right now, have at it.  It speaks volumes.

BOLD.  I've worked too damnn hard for my ticker.  How dare you call me disrespectful.

  • Like I said, I understand where you're coming from, I just don't agree with it.  I just have to put myself in her shoes, and if God forbid I ever lost a child, I'd feel a lot of strength in the show of support that's occurred here, even if it is as simple of a gesture as removing your siggy for a few days.  But alas, our siggies are our own, and we can do with them what they please...it's a free country.

Nope MW, hate to burst your bubble.  I am on 12-24 a lot, and pop over here once in awhile to check things out.  I'm often on the computer from 7-7:30 checking different websites, including this one.  If you'd like a running log of where I've been tonight I'd be happy to assist you.

Oh the comedic possibilities are endless

I'm not saying you haven't been through a lot.  Obviously you have.  But someone losing a child shouldn't be turned into a contest for who's dealt with more.

  • Honestly, if I just lost my child, the LAST place I'd want to go is a baby message board.  If you really want to show your support, write her an email, send her a card...removing your siggy, imo, is no different than 95% of the people with magnetic ribbons on their car.  It's done for social appearances only.

  • LMAO, there's an anti-magnetic ribbon group on FB I think.

  • I did NOT intend to cause drama or sound like a bi!ch, which I do admit is how I sounded.  In my opinion, I think it IS a big deal to not participate in a simple gesture for a fellow mom/friend who has been through a incomprehensible tragedy.  It doesn't make any of the other losses on the board or IRL any less painful or "important".  I'm very sad to think that someone could think that one loss of a child is any less painful than another.

This is a perfect reason why I didn't feel the need to remove anything.  Thank you for putting it so well.

  • We just have to agree to disagree on this one.  It's just a different way of looking at things.  I don't agree w/ you, you don't agree w/ me...the message boards will go on.  Such is life.

  • Honestly I don't care.  The chick's kid died- so do millions of other kids every day.  Does it make it any less shiity for her?  Probably not.  But guess what- neither does people taking down their signatures (or the even more asinine "hour of silence")... especially since I doubt she is even here anyways.

What speaks volumes is the ridiculousness of popularity contests on the nest.  Other babies/children/husbands/siblings/wives/parents/dogs have died before.  And usually it is only the "popular" ones who have the public outcry.

If she's a friend, send her an email or a card.  But an empty gesture?  And even more so- chastising of those who choose not to participate in said empty gesture?  Pointless.

Fuuck TTC - I'm moving on.
