Sorry, I'm sure this gets asked pretty often, but I scrolled through a few pages and couldn't find any posts on it. For those that already have their twins, would you recommend the side by side or tandem strollers? I've heard tandem are easier to fit through doorways but may be harder to get up curbs. Just wanted to get some feedback before picking one out. Thanks!
Re: Strollers - side by side or tandem?
i agree- both!
you can start off with a DSNG and use the infant seats - makes life easy... or my dream stroller- the City Select that comes out in the next month
You're likely to want a couple different strollers depending on what you're doing to be doing. We have three double strollers--DSNG, a Combi SBS (got it used at a multiples consignment sale), and a Phil and Ted's Sport.
Definitely go with the Double snap n Go. It's lightweight, easy to fold, and has a great basket. I'm going to be very sad when I have to retire mine. :-(
Honestly, I was upset when I got my Phil and Ted's (it was a gift) because I wanted a SBS and it is essentially a tandem. However, I've definitely changed my tune because it has a lot of the benefits of both. I love it because it's essentially the size of a single stoller. That will make it handy in malls and such and it's even been great in such places at the indoor buildings at the botanical garden because it would be really tricky to get a SBS on the paths (particularly if there is anyone else there!). It also has air filled tires which makes it a nice ride and easy to go up and down curbs and such. It has a decent basket too. The sun shade isn't the greatest, the stoller is a little difficult to fold, and we couldn't really start using it until the girls were 6 months old. However, the size and maneuverability make up for those things for me. DDs don't seem to mind sitting in the back seat and just kind of wind up chillin' back there. Oftentimes, if we're doing a long walk or at the zoo, we'll wind up switching who is in front and back.
The Combi has it's benefits too. I love that it's super easy to fold and unfold. It has a ton of wheels, so it's not the greatest for uneven terrain, but I will probably use it more for trips into daycare and places like Target when I have to retire the DSNG. The baskets aren't terribly useful (I can't put my diaper bag in them), although I probably could put stuff for a Target run in them. I've also used this as a "sitting area" when we've been traveling and a makeshift set of high chairs. It's just not that stroller I'd pull out for walks or probably even going to the mall.
