Triple Screen / Dr. recommendation

HI ALL,

I GOT MY RESULTS BACK FROM MY TRIPLE SCREEN AND THEY WERE ABNORMAL. THE INIITIAL SONO AND BLOOD WERE FINE, BUTIT MY SECOND BLOODWORK TEST CAME BACK ABNORMAL AND GAVE ME THE REDULTSRESULTS OF 1:120. NEEDLESS TO SAY I HAVE BEEN A COMPLETE WRECK SINCE THEN AND I FEEL THIS IS VERY UNHEALTHY FOR THE BABY. I WAS VERY UPSET WITH THE DOCTOR BECAUSE THEY CALLED ME AT WORKTO AND TOLD ME OVER THE PHONE, WHICH I FELT WAS SO UNPROFESSIONAL, THEN COULDN'T SCHEDULE MY LEVEL 2 SONO FOR THREE WEEKS!! CAN ANYONE PLEASE SHARE THEIR EXPERIENCES AND MAYBE RECOMMEND A DIFFERENT SPECIALIST. I JUST NEED SOME INSPIRATION AND MOTIVATION. I KNOW THEIR ARE SEVERAL FALSE POSITIVES, BUT THIS WORRY IS CONSUMING ME!

I'm sorry you're going through this. Are you going to see a specialist?

Now remember, the results are 1:120. Really that's a great chance nothing is wrong! And yes, there are many false positives. Hang in there.

I also had the triple screen done and they came back as 1/44 chance of Downs syndrome. My bloods were also off, with a high FSH and low protein.  I also had a hard time, and started researching. My husband and I did the sono and everything looked okay, but even with that you don't know for sure. So we went ahead and did the amniocentisis, a very difficult decision. I went to Dr. Huff at UT and he is amazing. The results came back that our son is okay, so we breathed a sigh of relief, and I have felt more at ease since then.

THe triple screen is results have been put into a computer with thousands of other women, and it is just a guess of things compared to other women. Please remember you have over a 99% chance that your baby is healthy. That's pretty good odds. I hope you have a good OB that can talk to you more about this. I wish you the best.
