Shower favors?

Who supplies the favors? I have been to showers where the hosts provide favors but I've also seen the mom-to-be give favors to the guests...are these the same favors or something extra the mom-to-be decided to do?

    If favors are given they are given by the hostess(es).

    I also have seen it done by both.  Just the other day my cousin, who is hosting my shower here in Florida, asked me if I wanted to find/pick out the favors or if she could... I wasn't sure how to respond.  I told her to go ahead.  She was happy because she said she found something online that she really liked and thought I would love too.  She isn't going to tell me what it is.   I am a bit torn and think I might get something to give to the guests as well.  I mean, aren't favors supposed to be a small token of appreciation for attendance/bringing a gift?  It makes sense to me for either the hostess or the mom to be to provide/give them.  Or if some cases, both, which would definitely be something extra as giving out 2 favors is a lot.  I think ultimately it's up to you.
