Babies: 0 - 3 Months

legs and feet still swollen

I gave birth 2 weeks ago and my feet and legs are VERY swollen. I mean my legs are so tight you can't even grab or pinch my skin and my ankles and feet ache.

My doc has been saying since my 8th month that it was apart of pregnancy and told me to buy some compression tights (that actually helped a little). But now I am noticing much more swelling AND pain. I called the other day and she of course asked about my blood pressure during pregnancy and after delivery then told me to elevate and drink lots water (which I already had been doing since I was 8 months) and that if that didn't help she would give me some fluid pills.

I can't take it anymore I am thinking about visiting the ER this weekend.

  • That sounds horrible.  I puffed up like a balloon during and after delivery but it had all gone away by about a week pp.  If I were you, I'd want to get a quick fix also and would probably head straight to the ER.  good luck.

  • Definately go get checked out. At about a week pp, your fluid retention levels should really be noticably decreasing.  Definatley go get checked out...did you have Pre-E? How was/is your BP?

  • this just doesn't feel normal to me and reseraching online has me scared to death
  • my blood pressure was never an issue...my doc told me everything was fine unless ssomething changed with my BP...she is still using this logic 2 weeks post delivery

  • I had bad swelling until about 3 weeks pp. But I had severe pre-eclampsia and HELLP upon delivery. It sounds like you're worried. I'd insist on getting checked out if I were you. It could be pp pre-e.
