I spent the entire time I was in Safeway on the lookout for my MIL because I SO do not want to run into her (and she shops there) ... and then literally ran right into her in Bed, Bath and Beyond. She has not seen Collin since SEPTEMBER. They live about seven minutes away. They're just totally uninterested in him -- or their son, for that matter.

It was SO awkward. I had to be all fakey friendly, and I asked her if she wanted to see Collin since he was out in the car with my mom, and when I brought him in, she stood there and got her purchase rung up without saying a word, took the bag, and theeeeen turned to look at him.

And she was all "Oh my baby boy!" smoochy smooch. I about threw up.

She asked what we were doing for Thanksgiving -- yes, the day before. We were not invited over. I have worked every year since college, but DH usually goes over there (on the years we have been speaking to them, which do not include 02, 03, 05 and 06 -- the last two because they didn't come to our wedding.) I wanted to punch her a little.

She concluded our conversation with a big fakey hug and "call us when you have some time!" They NEVER call us. They were supposed to come by a month ago and didn't show up, and it's not the first time. I mean, we're talking about people who sent DH a text asking if Collin has been born yet.

Seriously, I think my blood pressure is off the charts now.

Wow. Just....wow. I don't get people who are wholly uninterested in their kids and grandkids!!!! Having an overly interested parent so beats having to deal with BS like your MIL shovels out.

Oh Jenn, I am so sorry! My blood pressure would be off the charts too. Do you think this means no Christmas presents from them this year? We can only hope.

Ugh, so sorry you have do deal with that- she sounds like a real witch. It's amazing sometimes to think about these women who raised our wonderful DHs and marvel at how well they turned out in spite of their moms!

It's really unreal. I just sit here with my mouth open, when you talk about them. I can't believe what you have to deal with there. You should sell tickets!
