Trying to Get Pregnant

strange feeling after IUI

I posted this on the infertility board...but it seems to be pretty slow over there tonight.

For those ladies that have had an IUI, did you have a "strange" feeling in your lower abdomen?  I had mine this morning and all day my lower belly just hasn't felt right....normal?

Re: strange feeling after IUI

  • I remember feeling very bloaty after.  It is probably normal. If you get any pain, you need to call the Dr.

  • no pain...just almost achey kind of
  • I usually have cramping afterwards. I just had mine done this am, and am having throbbing pain on my left side.
  • Yep, I felt crampy and achy, and from what I understand this is normal.  If you're concerned, though, definitely don't hesitate to call your doctor or nurse.  It's too bad that doctors don't do a better job of explaining what we should expect.

I'm definitely having this feeling...I just heard about a friend whose wife had to have an ovary removed because while she was on Clomid her ovary "flipped".  I'm pretty certain my RE didn't tell me about that...

Dull achy feel is normal after an IUI.  I was pretty bloated after too.

The "flipped" that you are talking about is called torsion.  It is accompanied by EXTREME pain.  It usually happens when you have a cyst that is heavy and essentially dragging the ovary down, causing it to flip.

If you start to have extreme pain, nausea or throwing up - call your doctor ASAP.

I hope the yucky feel goes away for you!  Good Luck!

  • I remember feeling kinda puffy or off.  If it isn't painful I wouldn't worry.  If you have pain call the doc.
