Anyone bedshare with a full sized bed?

DH and I are cuddlers so we have a full sized bed, it was DH's bed he already had when we got married, a queen was always WAY to big for us.

We now bedshare with DS, I keep seeing that people only bedshare in a queen or bigger.

Does it matter? I was hoping my water would break in bed and we could go buy a bigger bed. But alas, that did not happen.

We use a snuggle nest, so its a little cramped right now. Once he's 6 months we plan on taking out the snuggle nest and just letting him sleep in bed with us

Re: Anyone bedshare with a full sized bed?

  • This is amazing to me ;-)

We actually started getting a little cramped when I was PG in our queen.

We went out and bought a King before LO was born and although there's plenty of room, I still find myself clinging to the side of the bed since all three of us will spread out.

I miss cuddling up to him sometimes but LO gets in the way of that anyway so we'll cuddle before going to sleep then go to our respective sides ;-)

  • I have done it at hotels (just me and DS). But it makes me nervous now that DS is more mobile and I wouldn't be able to do it long-term.

  • We've done it a couple of times on our guest bed and it was okay.  I never thought we would ever need anything bigger than a queen (which is what we have).  Just last night we had the "if we have another baby, we'll need a king bed" discussion.  If you're comfortable in a full now, I would guess it will stay that way before the baby is really mobile in bed.  DD used to sleep like a rock and move very little.  Around 15 months she started to prefer sleeping horizontally in the bed.  With her, and the dog at our feet, it's getting a bit crowded!
  • I would die in a small bed. We have a Cal King and we need it.

  • Props to you ladies with small beds who make it work. I have a queen and it fits us nicely but I cant imagine there being any less room!

  • I would venture to bet the reason you see more people bedsharing with king/queen beds is because more people have king/queen beds. Not saying there is anything wrong with your sleeping arrangement, but I don't know many (ok any) couples that have a full bed.
  • We have a full sized bed, but SO sleeps on the couch. He works nights, and wakes up every time I switch sides nursing, and the bed is too small. It was fine before DS, it was my bed from my studio apt, and our apt now is the size of a postage stamp. Needless to say I fantasize about a king size on a regular basis.
  • We bedshare P/T and have a full-size bed. It was my great-grandmother's and I absolutely love it. We also have no option to get a bigger bed because we have a 700 sq. foot house and a bigger bed just wouldn't fit in our bedroom! We're also cuddlers, and don't have much problem with room. Usually we all spoon, and there's still room for the cat. However, when DS sleeps between us (usually just for an hour or so in the morning), he likes to turn sideways so his head is up against DH's chest, and I end up almost pushed out of bed.

  • YES!! We did and I thought we were the only ones. We did it until DS was six months. After that it got pretty cramped because he is quite the bedhog! He got more space than DH or I did!

  • We have before, while traveling, but at home we have a queen. It worked fine before DD was mobile, but I would not have enjoyed it much after that! And I say this b/c the queen was way too small at that point!
  • Even though I'd like a bigger bed, I know it would be a waste of money.  DH is like a postage stamp.  In a hotel we were in a king once and I got up to go to the loo.  I looked at the bed -- there was 2 feet of space on my side... then DH....  then 99 feet of available space on his side which was unoccupied.  Even if we had the extra room, he would not allow it to be used.  Darn cuddly men.

Anyway, we bedshared and it was no big deal being in a full/double bed.  Was I a bit crowded?  Sure.  BUT I ALWAYS AM.  Crying

  • I am impressed.

We were also cramped in our queen when I was PG, so we bought a king sized bed.  Now even a queen feels small!  But, we are not cuddlers while sleeping.
