About a year ago, DH and I watched a show about what babies around the world eat. It was interesting to see how "American" it is do give your baby bland, spiceless food. The show profiled different cultures and showed how early some introduce spice and heat to babies.
I was curious if any of the mamas here introduced their babies to ethnic food that was not the traditional pureed veggies and fruits. DH has a secret goal to introduce our baby to exotic foods early so he/she is not a picky eater. [Who knows how that plan will play out]
Of course there are some things allergy wise a baby shouldn't have, and the fact that adults can simply handle more spice due to the dying off of taste buds that naturally occurs...but I'm curious.
Re: Baby Foods and Spice
We've always seasoned Evie's food. She eats Mexican, Greek, Italian, Thai, etc. We started her on purees with seasonings like cinnamon, garlic, and onion powder. At 9 months, we started feeding her table foods, and gave her what we were eating unless it was really hot. My BFF did the same thing/ Her daughter is 4 and orders her own sushi when they go out to eat. It's no guarantee of getting a good eater, but I think it helps to introduce a wide variety of food early on.
I heard a program on NPR that was similar to the t.v. show you described. The woman on the show was a pediatrician and had developed a line of baby food. I think it was called World Baby Food, and I believe it was available at Whole Foods. You might look into it of you don't want to make your own.
You and DH should pick up a copy of this book. https://hungrymonkeybook.com/
It's a pretty fun read and supports a local author!
I just noticed this brand at Metropolitan Market as well!
This would actually be a cute present for him for Christmas...he enjoys food related anything!
