I was told by my pedi they didn't know how to over eat and would quit when they got full. But, this was when DS was 6-9 months. Seriously, I think DS would eat forever if I let him. He literally eats more than I do at one time. He can eat 2 packets of oatmeal in one sitting. I can't eat that much at one time. He whines EVERY TIME we stop eating.
Do you think they know how to over eat because something tastes good... or will they quit when they're full?
(Oh, and the post earlier about someone's LO not eating well reminded me to ask this... so, I'm not trying to take a stab at you and your LO not eating well.
)
Re: Do babies know how to over eat?
I think babies are self regulating creatures. They don't eat out of emotions the way we do. DD is a good eater and loves ice cream. Last night my mom gave her the occasional treat of ice cream. She had a few bites and then turned the rest down.
Are you giving your LO a lot of protein? Maybe that would help?
I honestly don't know. My pedi said the same as yours, and said if he overeats he would be miserable or throw up....
But E can eat an entire chicken breast, a baked potato and a full cup of green beans... and then top it off with an apple or banana or an orange....
I am amazed at what he can eat... and I worry that he will never know when to stop
