What size diapers do I need?

I had my baby shower and got about 600 diapers. However they were all size 1, 2, and ever 3! I did receive 60 Premie's which say up to 6 pounds. So my question is how many Premie diapers do I need because I was thinking of exchanging the size 3 and 2 diapers. Also, would you be wierd about using the diapers out of the diapers cakes because they haven't really been sealed up and had several people handling them, collecting dust, etc.? I got about 150 out of the diaper cakes.

don't exchange the bigger sizes, you WILL need them one day! it's impossible to say right now how many preemie diapers you'll need. NB diapers aren't that much bigger, so i'd just use up those preemies, and maybe get some NB sized ones.

and HECK yeah, use the diaper cake diapers! there's nothing wrong with those!

I think it's hard to say. I would not return the bigger ones... you will need them. Just pick up a pack or 2 of preemies and keep your receipts. Our LOs were born 10 weeks early so they did wear preemie ones for 5 weeks, but they were in the NICU that whole time and came home in newborn diapers. So we didn't even use the 1 pack of preemie ones we had.

ditto the other girls - keep the larger sizes - stick them under the crib or something - you'l be happy when they start peeing out of their small diapers and you don't have to run to the store! Also definitely use the diaper cake diapers!! If you think about it, the inside of them doesn't get touched. They get rolled up from the outside, any tape or whatever was used to hold the cake together is on the outside, any dust that may have settled on them is outside - use those puppies UP! 150 diapers will save you quite a bit of moolah!

So you're saying there is a size P up to 6 pounds and then a NB size also?

yes, there's a preemie size and newborn size. I would say to get maybe 2 packs of NB, but hold off on preemie. We never had to use preemie diapers....and I think if your babies are small enough to need them, you'll probably get the preemie diapers you need at the hospital. But keep the larger sized packs that you have....you'll definitely need them down the road (mine were in size 3 at around 6 months I think). And as far as the diapers from the diaper cakes.....DEFINITELY use up those diapers!!

KEEP the bigger sizes, and exchange the preemie size for NB (and get a few more NB diaps). I've heard that the preemie diaps are for super preemies (as in still in NICU preemie). I would definitely use the diapers from the cake when you get to it, dust and people touching them aren't going to mess them up, your babies are going to pee and poop into them. I HIGHLY doubt that any baby has such sensitive skin that would irritate them if there was a little dust of other peoples skin oils on it. GL.

I loved the diaper cakes and even took leftover diapers from friends. Having multiples, I would not let any diapers go to waste. You will need all sizes eventually. Put the bigger sizes away for later. My girls were in preemie diapers for about a week and then we just put them in the newborn size. It is amazing how quickly they go up in size.

When my girls hit 5 pounds I returned the Preemie for newborns in a different brand then what I already had because Pampers are full of Aloe which I am highly allergic to, and Pampers are all I got. I would def use the diaper cake ones. However when my hubby tried pampering our Jack Russell last week I did explain why he MUST throw that one out!
