My friend gave birth today at the same hospital I will be giving birth. She had her baby at 9:59 am today and they are sending her home tomorrow at 10!!They also said only immediate family is allowed and nobody under 18.
Is this common practice now? I was actually hoping to stay overnight for 48 hours just to get some rest!
Re: H1N1 hospital restrictions
I suspect that your hospital's rules aren't really related to the H1N1 hype. Perhaps that's just the way they do things?
All of our local hospitals have a ban on all kids under age 18 or so, but the flu's been really bad around here.
Frankly, I'm fine with that. Assorted relatives can wait a day or two to see the new arrival. It does stink for siblings, tho, but I can live with it if it keeps babies from catching a nasty bug.
I'm not sure what the quicker stay would have to do with H1N1. 2 overnights is standard at my hospital - which can be less hours (if you deliver at 11:59 p.m.) or more hours (if you deliver at 12:01 a.m.)
For H1N1 no more than 2 visitors at a time, no kids under 12, no one with cough/cold/fever.
