WTH was that??? (definitely TMI)

So I was just going to the bathroom, and this huge blob fell out of my vadge.  I thought it was a blood clot at first, but then I looked at it a little more, and it's not blood.  It's tissue.  Semi freaked out, I totally grabbed a plastic baggie and fished it out of the toilet (I know, I knowHmm).  It's probably the size of 2 quarters sitting next to each other, maybe 1/2 cm thick.  I'm 2 weeks PP, my bleeding has been really light ever since we got home from the hospital.  Is it normal to pass tissue like that??  I mean, I'd heard about passing large clots... but this definitely isn't a clot.

 ??

  • hmmm I have never experienced this...may I ask WHY you fished it out? are you planning on keeping it in the fridge and taking it to your OB?

    I honestly wouldn't worry....better than a bloody clot!

haha no! I dumped it back in the toilet and flushed it and threw the baggie away.  I was just trying to figure out what the hell it was, and I decided it would be easier to do that and see it up close than sit and stare at the toilet for a while.  I know it was an odd thing to do, hence the Hmm in my OP

    aw thanks Big Smile

  • may I ask WHY you fished it out?"

im tempted to quote that on fb its so funny

  • I would give your ob a call just in case.  I passed two similar...um....things.  She did an ultrasound and said it looked like some pieces of the placenta were still in my ute.  So I ended up having to go to the hosp for a D&C, which SUCKED at 2 weeks PP.  Turned out there was nothing in there anyway.  But better safe than sorry.  Don't want an infection.
  • i would def call your OB first thing in the morning. It might be placental tissue, and that can cause big problems. she'll likely send you to the hospital for an ultrasound.
  • I guess I'll give the on-call doctor a call in the morning.  Thanks ladies!
