I'm so mad at school lunch manager

I get a message from the school lunch manager saying Mandi's lunch acct. in in the negative by 12 bucks and that if she didnt bring it up to date tomorrow they are closing the acct.  We put in so much money a month so she can charge her lunch....she gets alot of ala carte items.

WTF?????

We have been having issues with the lunch ladies not telling the kids they are getting low....they wait until they are in the negative and then tell the kids and leave nasty messages on the VM.  The lunch ladies never say what their balance is after the kids charge something or how much it cost so the kids have no way of keeping track themselves.

I left a VM telling her that she needs to tell her lunch ladies to tell the kids how much they charged and what their balance is BEFORE they go in the negative.  I also told her that its been an ongoing problem and if its not taken care of I'm going over her head because I'm sick of the nasty VM she leaves.

    LOL - that is crazy! And how is it that their systems even allow negative balances to happen? I realize kids need to eat but if it's such an issue for the lunch manager, then they should fix the program to prevent that from happening.

    You should try and talk to the school about having set up the accounts online and that way you can view online and also add the account if needed. I think that is messed up too that if they are not going to tell the kids before they go into negative, they need to at least be nice and give you a week to replenish.

    That's insane. Why on earth don't they give the kids the balance? I'd be pretty pissed about that too.

    Heck, even if they could print out a receipt telling them their balance when they scan their card or whatever they do to pay.  It has been quite awhile since I was eating at the hs cafeteria, but our machine always showed our balance for us when we scanned our card.

    That's nuts!  DD's school has website for parents to log on to see what their kid is buying and how much is left on the account.  You can even add to the account online.
