6lb 9oz @ 36 weeks?

I had a Bio Physical on Friday and the technician estimated my baby being 6 pounds, 9 ounces. I know sometimes these measurements can be completely inaccurate, but I'm worried that I'm going to have a huge baby. Does this seem big to anyone? I feel like I've done something wrong. I stopped exercising at 27 weeks because I just didn't feel up to it anymore.

Re: 6lb 9oz @ 36 weeks?

  • It seems good, I was estimated at 6 1/2 at 37 weeks and our baby was born 8lbs 7 oz at 38 weeks. ?On the large size yes but still good, if we would have went to 40 weeks he would have been 9 pounds.

  • Up until the day I had DS they told me he was going to be HUGE. At least 9 lbs. when I had him he was 5lbs 14 oz.!! They messed up my due date by at least 6 weeks I had him 8 weeks early. Yeah, they can definately be wrong.
  • My OB told me those estimated could be 2 lbs off either way.  They told us Max would be over 9 lbs, but he was 7 lbs 14 ozs, so don't feel like you're doing something wrong!  The weight they give you is just an educated guess, it's not solid at all.
  • It could be off in either direction but it sounds like your baby is at a healthy weight!

  • My older son measured at 6lbs 15oz at 35w5d (he was born the next day at 6lbs 6oz, so the measurement was pretty accurate). At the time, I was told that was in the 50th percentile and he was measuring right on track for normal.
