My mom has a Mazda Tribute and has 3 grandkids: nephew almost 5, my DD almost 4, and my DS 9 months. We are switching the car seats as DS has outgrown his but she seems to think they won't fit. Are you able to fit any?
I haven't had to actually fit 3 carseats in an SUV, but I have done some research on SUV's because DH and I are vehicle shopping and we are looking and keeping in mind that we might have a 3rd child ( I want a 3rd, DH is content with 2) if we do have a 3rd it wont be for another 1-2 years, but I dont want to have to buy another vehicle later. Anyway now that I went off on a babble..haha... the Mazda Tribute is actually one of the SUV's we were looking at that we thought/think should fit 3 carseats.
What you could always do is only buy 2 carseats for now and take one over to your mom's and see how 3 fit?? If worse comes to worse, you just might have to get a different "skinnier" carseat for your mom. I would think they should all fit fine though, is the 5 year old in a booster yet???
I can do a forward Marathon, forward facing Evenflo advance and rear facing sungride and also a forward facing alpha omega elite, rear facing Chicco infant seat and forward facing Marathon. in my suv. Thats all I have tried so far with friends and other kids. I would take her car to babies r us and have the other 2 seats installed where they will be then ask them to take seats out to your car and see what fits in there.
