Weigh-In Wednesday

UGH!  What a week!  It was tough to try and stick to an eating plan this week and I didn?t take my own advice and write down what I was going to eat each day, so I stumbled a bit here and there, only losing 2 of my desired 3 pounds.  Of course, it didn?t help when DH brought pizza home the other night?But, I did exercise 4 times this week, so I am happy about that.  Did anyone try the chicken from last week?  We are having it tonight ? hopefully the kids will like it.  Since breakfast is usually a tough meal for me to fit in my schedule, this week?s recipe is a quick and simple, and one I use a lot.  It literally takes less than 5 minutes to make from the time you open the fridge until you take your first bite.  I?m not sure of the nutritional content, but I put the approximates from what I could find.  I had no idea corn tortillas were so much less in fat and calories that flour ones! 

My current weight: 149   My goal weight: 125  Pounds to go: 24

My weight loss goal for this week:  2pounds

Exercise goal for this week: Try an exercise I haven?t done before (yoga, Pilates, zoomba, etc.)

Dietary goal: Increase vegetable intake ? eat at least one salad per day (either as a side or as an entr?e)

Motivational tip:  Write out eating/exercise plan; Pay attention to how hungry I am when I eat ? stop when I?m full, even if my plate is not empty.

Recipe: Breakfast burrito

2 eggs (about 150 calories)

2 tbsp ?taco? cheese (about 30 calories)

1 tortilla (Flour ? 115 calories; 2.5 g of fat, corn ? 60 calories; 1g of fat)

Salsa (optional)

Scramble eggs.  Spoon into tortilla and top with cheese.  Warm in the microwave for 10 seconds and top with salsa if desired. Wrap up tortilla and eat!  Add some fruit and low-fat milk or juice for a more well-balanced meal. 

 

Discussion topic:  When do you exercise?  What do you do with your kids when you exercise? 

I try to fit exercising in whenever I can.  DH is a real couch potato, although he has a gym membership, he hasn?t used it for at least six months, so he isn?t a great motivator.  This week I did an exercise DVD (Jillian Michael?s 30-day Shred) three times while the kids napped and took the boys for a 30 minute walk while DD was at school.  Right now I feel like that?s about all I can do, although when my boys stop their morning naps, I?d like to join a gym ? there?s one a few minutes away that offers childcare.

  • Booo...I didn't lose a single pound...but in my defense we celebrated thanksgiving this past weekend with my family (so lots of food and drinks)...so I will just be happy I didn't gain either and work on doing better this week...I did fit in 2 days of exercise at the gym...so this week I will try and do 2 again and yoga one evening....and I will try and get a healthy menu going for the week....

  • I only lost .6 of a lb this past week - but i'm glad about that b/c i was worried i might have gained- i had a few "cheat" moments - where i didn't eat my Jenny Craig stuff, and wasn't great about watching portion size, etc... It was a stressful week (my first real one back at work) and I was hungry a lot b/c of that stress --- but at least i didn't gain!!

    Current weight 175.4

    Goal weight 165 or so, it changes every day depending on how motivated i feel, lol. sometimes i say 155.

    Exercise?? What exercise??  The only exercise I get these days is going up and down the stairs in my house to get things i need from the baby's room or go to the bathroom :)  And the occasional walk outside with the babies and Griffin. 

    I really don't like exercising - and have not been good about it... and still lost 15lbs in 7 weeks, so i guess it's ok, right?? :)   I'd like to add in doing some Wii Fit a few days a week at least (since it's getting colder here now).  I wish I could afford to join a gym - with child care- so i could go and get a break while i worked out--- maybe someday if we come into some money :)

    I did not fair as well, my weight stayed the same - I lost nothing!  Here are my excuses: My son had surgery on Thursday and we ate hospital food and take-out for a few days.  My meal planning/cooking went out the window and there was a lot of stress eating.  I did manage to work out 3 times (1 day short of my goal) and I really feel like I would have done worse if it wasn't for you girls!  I kept thinking about you girls cheering me on and I thought about having to post my weigh-in.

    This week will be a little odd too b/c I was diagnosed w/ Diverticulitis in Septemeber and I have to have a Colonoscopy on Monday so that means a liquid diet this weekend.  I sooo don't want to do it but I think it will probably help my #'s.  ;-)

    Discussion topic:  When do you exercise?  What do you do with your kids when you exercise?  On the weekends, DH and I either take turns - I will run and then he will. Or if it is nice then I will run with the jogging stroller.  During the week (I work full-time) I have been doing the 30 Day Shred at 7:30 after we put the boys to bed.  It is not ideal b/c I am tired and hungry and I don't feel like I am getting the best work out but for now it is something and that is a lot better then nothing. I hope everyone had success and has a great week ahead!

  • Next time I promise I won't answer the post until I've finished my coffee...since I missed the discussion question on my first 3 posts I'll answer it here - I joined the company gym for $20/month located right behind my building and I am going 2x's/week on my lunch...on the weekends dh and I try to fit in one good walk in the woods/paths behind our house and I am hoping I can make myself fit in some yoga poses after the girls are in bed at least one evening a week...
  • Only lost .5lb but I'm blaming AF since she rolled into town yesterday.

    I'm going to dedicate 15 mins of my lunch hour every this week to walking.

    Discussion topic: I usually exercise in the late morning after they eat and are taking a late morning nap.  I put them in their swing and bouncy so they can watch if they wake up or I can pop the paci back in!!

  • You lost 2 lbs in 1 week? That's awesome! During my postpartum weight loss I've never managed to lose more than 1-1.5 lbs in a week!

    I was a bad bad cookie........mmmmm cookies.............nevermind. I didn't gain anything this week, but I didn't lose anything either; I didn't stay on plan at all. I think I have been trying to see just how bad I can be and still lose; that plan didn't work out so well. But i'm going to try and stay on track this week and start tracking my foods better, I've gotten really lax on it, so hopefully this will kickstart me again. At least my points start over next thursday morning so I will have all my Weight Watchers points for Thanksgiving, I just need to be mindful of portions.

    I have been going to step class, but they have changed the time of it and conflicts sometimes with DH's duty times so I go when I can. I'm going to try a spin class tomorrow morning, I haven't done it since before I got pregnant so it should be interesting. With the kids I will take them on a walk either around the neighborhood or there is a lake with a paved track around it with a bunch of hills. I haven't braved the lake yet, my excuse is that I want a jogging stroller first.

  • I got on the scale this morning and I"m back to 151!!! WTH???  I didn't have a whole lot of time to exercise yesterday, but I did do an ab workout that is killing me today.  AND I ate nothing but cereal and salad yesterday.  Not sure what's going on, but I am NOT happy!  And I can't even go eat anything! 

    Maybe some water will make me feel better...
