I went ahead b/c i have having pregnancy anxiety about it... i only have the base in but i think i'm going to put the seat in when i get home... just incase if something happens at work i don't have to worry about sending someone home to get it.

I plan to put mine in around 35 or 36 weeks. We are going 7 hours out of town when I am 35 weeks and want to be prepared just incase I would go into labor.

I put mine in at about 35 weeks as "karma" ... if it's in and ready to go, the chances of going early will be less. Now that I'm 38+ weeks, I should probably reverse the trend and take it back out .
I would keep ONLY the base in if at all possible. Not to be a worrier or overly cautious, but if you are in any sort of accident, it would not only be bad for you and baby, but the car seat. If you have the base only in, you would only have to replace the base. If you have the entire car seat in, you'd have to replace both. Again, I don't like to tempt fate. And regarding the PP who wanted to have it at work in case, I also don't carry my bags with me, so someone would have to go and grab those anyway. The carseat wouldn't be too much extra.
Ours will probably be installed while I am at the hospital. I'm not really worried about the car seat situation. My DH is a firefighter and so he knows how to properly install the seat.

I just had my car seat installed yesterday and received some information about car wrecks. If there is not a child in the seat and if there is minimal ?damage done (fender bender) then you likely would not have to replace to car seat. There is a whole check list of criteria that has to be met in order to have to have a new car seat. Also, at least in my state, if you are not at fault and the car seat does have to be replaced, the other driver's insurance has to pay for a replacement. Or if you are at fault, you can get your insurance to pay for it.
?That being said, I had my car seat installed at 37.5 weeks. I keep the carrier in the car so my daughter will get used to her sister being in there soon. Plus she likes to put her doll in there.??

My Hubby just got ours installed the other day.
Me having a days worth of pre-labor contractions and the Dr. betting Baby Girl would be coming before the next check-up seemed to get him in go mode
(However, tomorrow is my next check-up, and still no baby..dang Dr. for getting my hopes up)
