Container for frozen baby food, day care

Hi,

Anyone out there bring frozen baby food to day care? We just started today. Wondering what's the best container. I don't want them to microwave it in plastic. In fact, I kinda don't want them to microwave at all. They do have a small crock pot with water that they use for bottles. But I'm not sure if it's safe to put something glass in there. Any suggestions?

  • We take ours out the night before and thaw it in the fridge to take to daycare in the morning.

  • We take ours as ice cube size items in baggies and leave them frozen in the freezer.  They heat up the food in the microwave, but are very careful about themperature/hot spots by mixing up the food and letting it sit before they give it to DS.
  • Couldn't you just put it in the fridge the night before so it is thawed by the time it's eaten?  That's what we used to do with DS's food.

  • tell them you want it warmed up in the crock pot. at our center, we arent allowed to microwave baby food, just finger food. all baby food gets warmed in our crock pot in the baby plastic bowls from target/BRU along with the bottles. and we have warmed glass things in the crock pot too (the glass baby food jars) with no problems.

this is what one parent does: brings frozen baby food in the baby container from target (dont know the name, sorry! its in the baby section.) she puts it in the fridge, then at lunch we just put it in the crock pot for 5 or so minutes and stir it until its the right temp.

they need to do what *you* want =)
