Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

s/o what does your original EDD mean to you now?

I was induced a few days before my EDD. I remember thinking it was weird that 9/14 wouldn't be his birthday because it has been SUCH an important date to me for the months and months leading up to it. I don't know if I even thought about it this year because I was so focused on his ACTUAL birthday of 9/10. Weird.

  • It's still my MIL's birthday.

  • It doesn't mean anything to me, really.  It has set an expectation in my mind though. Since I didn't make it to my EDD the last time, I don't expect to this time. I fear I'm in for disappointment.
  • 9/14 was my due date too. I remember feeling "weird" that whole day when I was pregnant. Sometimes I still have to stop and think for a second about his actual bday (the 19th) because the 14th was in my head for so long!
  • We're still not at his due date, but I'm sure it will be just another day.

  • DS' due date was 10/25. That is DH's grandparents anniversary, so they were hoping he would be born then. Instead, her was born the day before. He must have wanted his own special day. Big Smile
  • Doesn't mean much. I don't think too much about it because my son was born four days after his due date (which was a weekend) and because of that I had to give birth at a hospital that I did not like and with midwife whom I had never met. If I had gone any day before then, I would have had my Dr. and my preferred hospital. No, I'm not bitter or anything :)

  • I still get a little teary because that was the day he should have been born.  Instead I had baby over 1 month old.

ETA: I am not attached to this next ones date.  I figure I will have an April baby anyway.  If I have a May baby then I will be excited.

  • It means "holy crap my body is accurate!" I delievered on my due date, so I am kinda secretly hoping it happens again, because I think that would be very interesting!
  • both of my boys were due on the 16th...other than that, eh.
  • I didn't even think about it this year.  I kept focusing on it when he was born because he was born 10/18 and my EDD was 11/10.  So I kept thinking, he's not supposed to be here, or he would only be 3 months right now instead of 4.  But now I don't think about it.

  • ha! with Lu i set a reminder in my blackberry on her EDD : "have baby" so it was funny when it popped up 5 days after i had her.

with this baby i don't even tell people the due date because i am beyond convinced she's coming early.

  • DD's EDD was 7/06 it doesn't really mean anything now. Had she arrived on her EDD it would have worked out the same as it did anyway. 3 birthdays in a row, hers, my brothers, and mine. Instead it's my brothers, mine, than hers. She was born 7/09.

  • DS was due on 11/14 but was born on 11/6. It's funny because a few weeks ago my friend was telling me she was having a party on 11/14 and do we have plans?? I was thinking "...... November 14th... that day is something...let me get back to you..." Duh. It was my original due date. That date will always be etched into my mind as some sort of importance.

  • My doc did my section 2 days before my EDD so my due date last time will always have me wondering how much bigger she could have been had we gone past it.  This time, it's just a date.  I don't have much faith that my body will go into labor on it's own and that will mean another scheduled c/s Sad

This.  I went into labor on my due date, and DD was born 2 minutes after midnight, so...with the  next baby when that day comes I'm probably going to be a bundle of nerves!

  • It was weird when I reached my EDD and already had a 2 week old.  And I remember thinking this year "oh today was Carter's due date" but that's it.  I doubt I will remember it next year... especially with a new baby!

I do always wonder how big DS would have been had he made it to his due date.  He was 9.5lbs at 38w so.... I'm kinda nervous for this baby!

  • I was induced one week after my EDD. On that day this year, I just felt nostalgic thinking about how nervous and excited I was the previous year, not really knowing when we would finally get to meet him. The day after my EDD I had a biophysical profile to make sure he was doing okay. I remember looking at him on the u/s monitor and thinking "I thought you'd be here by now." It brings back good memories, and I don't think I'll forget that day because I focused on it for so long.
  • I don't think about it much since DD was born the day before her EDD, but baby#2 is due July 4 and the scheduled c/s will likely be in late June, so we'll be changing an entire month.  That feels weird to me.
  • Nothing.

I went into labor on my own 1 day before my scheduled induction and 1 week before my EDD.

  • It doesn't even cross my mind.  It's just a guess they give you, it's not like it SHOULD be their birthday.  I never thought for a second he would actually come on that day.
  • It had no real significance at all, and still does not.  My friend and I were both due the same day and both had our babies early.  Brooke was due November 8th but made her arrival October 15th. :)

  • It means it was my son's birthday :)  But honestly I don't think it would really mean much to me if he were born early or late.

  • Well DD was due 7/8 or 7/11. Depending on what you went by. The u/s or LMP. If you went by LMP 7/8.

Really it meant nothing to me. My birthday is 6/22 & DD was born 6/24 which is MIL's birthday. I like how it all turned out.

I also never really cared because I knew that the chances of her being born on her due date where slim since I have diabetes & would/was induced early.

  • 9/13 was my due date and all I remember is how much i did NOT want to have her on that date. I was hoping to go early so I wouldn't have to worry about it. My husband had to shoot a wedding and would not be able to leave it should something happen... so on my due date I stayed in bed with my hips up and my legs pressed close together. The date has no real significance for us though.

  • I had to stop and think what it was, actually.  So...absolutely nothing, except that baby #2's due date is 6 days afterwards. :)

  • The girls were due 10/25 and were born 10/1 - my EDD means nothing to me now, in fact I had to stop and think of what it was. I never, ever thought I'd make it to my EDD. Heck, I didn't think I'd make it to the fall.
  • EDD is my parents' wedding anniversary.

It's also the date that all the action takes place in a book that I read and then signed a contract to translate while I was pregnant. My English translation just hit bookstores last month.

  • I always remember dates for some reason. Give me a date and I can probably make some connection to it, be it recently or when I was in Grade 2. So it's no surprise that I still remember DD's due date and probably always will. I can see me telling her that it was the date mummy thought she would be born.
  • My EDD is now Colin's birthday. :)  So it is still a very special day for me and I love it that way.
  • It means nothing because it kept changing, lol. Everytime I had an u/s they would tweak my due date by a few days. First it was June 6, then it was June 8th, then it was June 2nd, then June 3.

  • Nothing really DS was due on 7/7 but was born on 7/8. DS just apparently didn't like the date of 7/7 and decided he wanted to stay in one day longer..lol

  • EDD never meant meant much b/c I knew I was having a scheduled c/s even before I was pg. I just looked forward to the estimated week of the c/s until it was actually scheduled.

  • nada, i forgot about it except for mabye twice this year (DH and my bdays are both on a 30th of a month, which was her orig.edd)
  • DD was due on Halloween so it's just another Halloween to me now except I had the best costume ever. I went as a jackolantern. Very cute! When it came around this year I didn't even try to dress up I figured I couldn't beat the year before.
  • I think about it a lot actually.  DS was due Aug 1, but was born June 24.  (A day after my baby shower!)  So when his due date arrived, he was already a month and a half.

My shower was in my backyard, and so was DS's first birthday party.  Most of the guests were the same, and they were held just about the same date, just one year later.  I think it was sort of like deja-vu to have the same food, same guests, on the same weekend in June, just one year later, and for a different reason.  There were some requests for me to break out my maternity dress that I wore to my shower to DS's b-day party (as a joke - since it was green and made me like a giant avocado) but I declined.  There was a lot of talk about him arriving the day after my shower at his 1st b-day party.

  • I went into labor at 10pm on my EDD and had DD 10am the next morning! So to me it will always be the day I went into labor =D

  • Its my DD's actual birthday.  Yep, that's right, I delivered her on her EDD.  :)
  • My EDD was the day before my deceased brother's birthday.  Through 1st and 2nd Tri I was just hoping I wouldn't have him that day since we wanted to name him after my brother I thought it would be weird if they had similar names and the same birthday.  Once I was diagnosed with PTL at 30w 3d I was just hoping to get as close to my EDD as possible.  Since DS was only 3.5 weeks early it's just the day before my brother's birthday.  If he had been born when I first went into later it would be much more significant.
