NBR: What have you found in public?

seeing the wedding band post below made me think of things I have found in public

ONE: A week before my wedding I was at a club with some out of town friends and I found a Gucci (yes, real) in the bathroom and yes, I opened it and found an ID. Since my friend was the manager I handed it over to him and said I found it and there IS money and CCs in there.

Back at my table one girl asked why I didn't take the money? I said Karma is a *** and it wasn't mine to take!

They found the girl and she cried, because everything was left in there. But she bought me a drink :)

(but as far as Karma .... lol ... things still wnet bad at the Wedding)

  • An open condom in a parking lot.  I let it be.  Ick!

  • I found a credit card at the dr's office. I also found a wedding band at the gym once. Both I turned in immediately.

I do think karma helped me out because I lost my credit card at the mall this weekend. A nice family with a little baby found it and turned it right in. I was so thankful!

  • I would never take anything that wasn't mine, either. I would feel guilty for an eternity if I even thought about it.

I left my purse on the bench in the locker room at the gym at 5:00 (prime busy hour). I didn't realize it until I got home and when I went back, it was still there with everything inside. I was shocked.

  • I worked at Starbucks back in the day and a customer left his briefcase at a table.  I opened it because if there is anything of value we lock it in the store safe.  Inside was money and his family's passports!  We of course locked up everything and he was SOOO grateful when he came back because his family was going on a trip and needed their passports.  He put $100 tip in our tip jar :)

haha ...... I have found quite a few of those in front of the neighbors house .... thank god he moved

  • Oh boy I seem to have a knack for finding electronics lol...my partying days were spent at a lot of clubs and I found phones and cameras constantly...even kicked a camera once it was under my feet. I always gave them to the bartender, I didn't feel right taking someone's memories (on a camera away).

Plus my phone got stolen when we gave the car to valet so I know how much that sucks!

  • We went to the county fair and a ex-coworkers husband worked their and also lived in the side house...well to avoid the parking we parked at their house and went the back way...well we were walking and I felt something looking at me so I looked down and these people were having sex on the back part of the house! yuck!!! we all screamed and ran! lol we were teens it was soooo gross!
  • When I was 10 I found a wallet with $20 in it and no ID. I turned it in at the market (it was in the parking lot) and they kept it for a week. When no one claimed it they gave it to me! I threw out the cigarettes (it was a cigarette purse thingy).

When I was in college I found a handle that turns on fire hydrants. I knew this because it was attached to a fire hydrant at the time. Anyway, it was about midnight and I got some friends together and we turned it on, there was a hose attached. We all got soaked within about 2 seconds and finally turned it off.

That is quite the art project!

  • I found a wallet on my car.  I'm guessing someone found it lying next to my car and thought it was mine, because it had been wedged under my windshield wiper.  Miraculously, no one had touched it (I work on a college campus and I have no idea how long it was there) because there were still credit cards and cash inside.  I reverse looked up the phone number using the address on the driver's license and got the freshman's mom.  Who promptly gave me his cell number.  He came to my office and then insisted I take the $10.  I tried to refuse and when I turned to leave, he put it down the back of my shirt and ran.  He was a funny kid - but I'm glad he got his wallet back.

There are people a few towns over who have a full size elephant on their front law. It is the most awkward thing I've ever seen, they put lights on it in the winter.

  • When we were 12, my girlfriend and I found a bank deposit envelope in the alley next to the movie theater with $5,000.00 in it. Being 12 and stupid, we didn't turn it in. We kept it in her room and whenever we wanted a couple bucks for something lame, we would go get some from the stash.

I found a wedding band next to my car on the street and I put an add in the paper for it but no one claimed it. It said something like "All my love- Tom" on the inside. I think I still have it somewhere.

  • i found a bunch of credit cards and a hotel room key outside of a park last time dh and i were in san francisco.

the key was to a holiday inn and were were staying at a holiday inn so when we got back i asked the front desk guy if he could check and see if the name on the credit cards matched any people staying there. it didnt so i asked him to call the next closest holiday inn and yea the guy came down to our hotel to pick them up and was in shock that someone returned everything. he gave me 10bucks

  • I have never found anything but if I did I would never keep it.  And for some reason people love to steal stuff from me...  ARG where is this bad karma coming from?
  • I found a baby.  True story--I was on my way to work and spotted a baby (couldn't have been much more than a year (he could walk, but not really talk).  He was on the street all by himself and couldn't tell me where his house was.  I took him home (just up the street) and DH & I called the police.  Fortunately, within 5 minutes he was back home (the aunt, who was babysitting, had already reported him missing).

    Holy Crap!

I had a kid FIND ME at a Chucky Cheese once ... she ran to me crying and made me pick her up and said she lost her mommy ..... guess I looked friendly?

Another time at a store some lady lost her kid and he was standing there crying I went to help him and I had DH go get security ....

seriously ppl how the f do you lose a kid? really

I have gotten dirty looks from moms when I have tried to help their lost crying kid who apparently wasn't being watched well enough ... I'd get "he's fine I got it" type crap ....

  • The day after my cousin's wedding we found a camera that had been left behind (the reception was at my grandparent's house where we were staying).  We decided to look at the pictures to see if that would help us figure out who it belonged to.  The second picture we saw was one of a huge, close-up penis!  Eventually we figured out it belonged to the hairstylist, and promptly returned it pretending we hadn't seen anything...

  • I found an i-pod at the gym and turned it in to the front desk.
  • I found a wallet and it's huge amount of credit and bank cards, cash and written, un-cashed checks strewn all over the street in front of a grocery store. It was obvious that it had been on top of someone's car and they drove away. There was over $300 in bills that I found. I called the phone number and the wife answered, just as her husband was pulling in the driveway. He didn't even realize it was missing yet. He gave me $100!!
