Smoked Oysters?

Are smoked oysters ok to eat while pregnant?  I know some seafood isn't good.  These are the smoked oysters in a can that you can buy off the shelf. I've been craving them but wasn't sure if I should steer clear or not.

Re: Smoked Oysters?

  • You should Google, or ask your Dr.

  • I have had them twice since BFP.
  • I thought I read somewhere that we should stay away from smoked meats and deli.  I know it meant smoked salmon for sure and I think it's because of something that is added to the meat during the smoking process.  I would check with Dr. first.

This.  I'm pretty sure smoked seafood is out, but I would call your doc.

  • I found something on the March of Dimes website....

Use caution with refrigerated smoked seafood unless it has been cooked (as in a casserole). Canned versions are safe.
