Success after IF

regular high chair vs. space saver kind?

As you can tell we are trying to finish our registry this weekend:)

I am lost when it come to high chairs. Is there a benefit to having a regular one that stands on its own as opposed to the space saver kind? Or it is simply that, to save space?

Since we will need two I am leaning toward the space savers, but wanted to make an informed decision. TIA!

Re: regular high chair vs. space saver kind?

  • I chose to get a traditional one with legs for my house because the eating area only has 4 chairs, so if I was to have company strapping on the high chair to a real chair would not be good (I am not comfortable with the ones that attach to the table). I also got the compact chair for travel so I can use it when we go to grand ma's etc.

A lot of years and a million tears finally led me to you.
After 7 years trying to concieve, 3 failed IUIs and 2 failed IVFs, my third IVF was a success!
My Christmas baby turned into a turkey bird! Dillon Richard was born at 34 weeks, 5 days on November 28, 2009 after 10 weeks on bedrest for preeclampsia.

  • We have The First Years high chair that attaches to a regular chair and LOVE it!  It doesn't take up any extra room in the kitchen (we have 6 chairs at the kitchen table) and fits right in.  For the very few times that we have 6 adults, we just bring in a chair from another room.  It's super easy to clean and he seems comfortable in it!

  • I've had both.

I prefer the space saver (reclining) hands down.

We have a fairly large eating are and I still HATED how much space the high chair took up.

I got rid of the full sized high chair with my second.  We seriously pulled it out, used it once and I looked at DH and said "I HATE this thing and we're gonna need a booster eventually anyway so let's go get one"

I can NOT imagine 2 high chairs.  If you're in doubt go to BRU, pull them down and look at their footprint.  I'll bet they're all going to easily take up way more space than your existing chairs.  Not to mention the fact that with a big footprint it's hard to get them snuggly side by side.  Feeding 2 I would think it would be easier the closer they are together.

Our IF journey: 1 m/c, 1 IVF with only 3 eggs retrieved yielding Dylan and a lost twin, 1 shocker unmedicated BFP resulting in Jace, 3 more unmedicated pregnancies ending in more losses.
Total score: 6 pregnancies, 5 losses, 2 amazing blessings that I'm thankful for every single day.
  • We did the space saver kind, FP I think. The reviews were great, Baby Bargains rated it high and we just really have NO space so it was a no brainer for me. Obviously, we haven't used it yet, but my friends all say it's the way to go.

  • Space saver hands down!! We have used it for Nolan from about 3 months and he is still in it now!!
  • I just registered for 3 space savers. eek! 3 high chairs would take up our whole kitchen!
