C-Section Recovery Qs-HELP!

I had a C with my girls on November 3. Last Tues, I passed two pancake sized clots (sorry TMI) and it had me freaked out! Fortunatley, I had my 1 week post op dr. appt. that same morning.

My dr. said I was most likely overdoing it (DH had to return to NY the same day we were released from the hosptial...so my hands have been full around the clock!) and to watch for heavier bleeding and any changes in my incision and clot sizes.

By Friday, I still had clots (not quite as big as Tues.) and was still feeling the need to change pads more often than "normal." The on call nurse said to come in if I had to change a pad more than 2-3 times in an hour.

**Did anyone deal with this kind of post-C recovery issues?? Is my bleeding any bit normal for a multiples C-section? I would assume I'd bleed more due to having twins, but don't feel comfy at the amount of bleeding/clotting I'm still dealing with.

ANY FEEDBACK APPRECIATED! Thanks!

  • i had less bleeding with my c/s from the twins than i did with my singeton vag delivery - i hardly had any bleeding with the twins - after the first 2 days it was just spotting for the weeks afterwards.

what you have does not sound normal.

  • I don't have anything to compare it to, but I bleed for 2 weeks before it turned to spotting. I passed clots like yours those first 2 days but then they got smaller, during the next 2 weeks, I think I was changing pads every couple of hours. If you are not comfortable with it, definatly call the on call nurse and see what she says, she may want you to get checked out.

  •  i was barely bleeding by the time i got home. i would try to get an exam/ultrasound.
  • You need to go see your OB ASAP.  I had the same issue you are describing and about three weeks after I delivered I ended up in the ER where they found a massive blood clot in my uterus.  It had filled 80% of my utuerus by that point.  I had to have it removed with surgery.  I don't mean to scare you, but you should definitely be checked just to be sure.

  • i agree, you should go to the docs. What you are explaining does not sound 'normal'. GL
