I'm attending a school weekend out of state in a couple of months. At first, I thought I'd just pump and dump since it's only 4 days, but I don't have an awesome supply, so 4 days worth of milk is a big deal. Does anyone have advice or firsthand experiences? I looked at the TSA website, but they've got pretty skimpy info. All I was able to determine is that I can fly with bm. TIA!
Re: has anyone flown with breast milk recently?
I just went on my first business trip since DD two weeks ago. I packed my pump, Lansinoh storage bags, and a soft cooler with freezer packs. Coming home from the Baltimore airport, I found a special lane in security just for families and "medically necessary fluids." I had a female TSA agent search the BM cooler thoroughly, and she let me know that my ice packs were technically too many oz. She still let me go through, but told me to ask for a TSA supervisor if anyone tried to hassle me about the ice packs. Really, it was very uneventful. I was very nervous. My milk was only chilled, nnot frozen. GL!
P.S. If you stay at a hotel, make sure there is a refrigerator and a little freezer.
