Register for side by side and tandem?

I have already registered for the Kolcraft and Im keeping it there.  My aunt told my mom that a side by side is necessary and now mom says I need to register for both.  Is it strange to register for two?  I'm thinking my aunt may have said this b/c she wants to buy us a side by side, but who knows.

Re: Register for side by side and tandem?

  • I was thinking of registering for the Bumbleride Indy Twin (side-by-side), but I didn't know there was something like the Kolcraft until this post (and the one below)!  How did you choose the Kolcraft?  It looks pretty good!  I am completely confused about side-by-side versus tandem.  Is there any good website or blog that addresses this decision and helps moms-to-be of twins figure this out?  I don't want a million strollers because I live in a city condo and just don't have the space to store them!!  Curious to see the responses...

  • I like the Kolcraft because it takes 2 infant seats (of many varieties) like the DSNG, but unlike the dsng you can still use it when the babies are too big for the car seats.  I opted for this over the Graco tandems because I liked how it felt better in the store and the overall reviews have been better.

I dont know of many side by sides that take 2 car seats.

I guess both have their ups/downs and I'm just wondering if its worth it to have both.

  • I have both and use them for different purposes. We have a Graco Duo Glider that stays in the car for when we are in town and a side by side that is at the house that we use for walks. We couldn't use the side by side until the kids had better head control, but I got in anyways and use it all the time now, just make sure it has the 5 point harness system so you can use it when they are smaller. I haven't tried the side by side at any stores, once the kids outgrow their carriers I may switch to the side by side for in town.

  • i'm a stroller whore- i own many- and feel it's good to have options because depending on where you go- no one stroller will fit all situations well... so if you can afford them (or people will buy them for you) having many strollers is never a bad thing! :)
  • I don't think there's anything wrong with registering for two. I think with multiples, you just need to have options.

I registered for a side by side for when the twins are older and we went ahead and bought a used DSNG for the infant carriers. I also plan on buying 2 single umbrella strollers for when I want to take the kids out separately. Plus my cousin is going to give us a hand me down double umbrella stroller.
