Trying to Get Pregnant

So have you named your phantom babies?

Did you find it easier to pick a name for a boy? girl?

What are the names (if you want to share)?

Re: So have you named your phantom babies?

  • DH and I rattle off names we like every once in awhile. We won't settle on anything until I am KU though.

  • Well, I would want to see the baby before 100% deciding on the name, but we are leaning towards Hannah Victoria for a girl.  Boy names have been much harder, the best we have come up with is Simon Elliott.  Both middle names are family names from DH's side.

  • I always had more boy names picked than girls, but since DH veto's all of them I don't have many left.  Haha.  In all fairness I veto a lot of his too.

So far we've decided on Brooke for a girl.  If I had my way we'd name our son James and call him Jamie but DH isn't wild about it.  Unless I let him have Danica for a girl...I better get back to the drawing board on boys names.

  • Both were fairly easy..but once our baby is real and not phantom..it may change. LOL.

Boy - Layton Henry (Henry is on both mine and Dh's sides of the family)

Girl - Hallie Jo or Kinley Jo (I wanted the middle name Marie but DH insists on Jo, which was my second fave anyway)

    Jalepeno, you didn't post yours??

  • No, although I have more potential names picked out than DH.  I don't think he even gives it a second thought.  I find it much harder to come up with boy names.

  • And also, we are never going to agree on one!  Every name I mention, DH shoots down and on the few occasions where he mentions one, I usually hate it.

  • I think girl names are easier. Mostly because of our last name though. So many of the boys names that I like end with N and so does our last name, so it sounds too rhymed.

For a girl, I like Laila a lot, that's my go to. Laila Sue (Sue after this lady who watched us when we were little, I loved her so much. She died of brain cancer a few years ago). I also like Gabriella, Grace and Audrey. I love the name Charlotte but I can't name my daughter that because I wouldn't be able to handle the Boston accent with the R in that name. It would make me insane.

For a boy, my fave is Bradley. DH likes Brady. I like Brody too.

  • We've thought about names a little bit, we've come up with some names but it will probably change when the time comes.  Right now we like Amelia Jean for a girl (It is MIL and my mom's middle names) and Elijah (Eli) for a boy... a boy will probably not have a middle name because DH doesn't have one and wants to carry on the "tradition"

  • Yes.  I find it easier to pick names for a boy for some reason.

    First boy:  Patrick William

    Second boy:  Robert Max

    First girl: Abigail Jean

  • Oh no - cart before horse.  We have names picked out that we like, but we don't really talk about it anymore.

One big debate we have is using a Russian naming convention for our kids.  I want to, he doesn't.  The tradition is that the child is given the father's first name as a middle name, with a masculine or feminine ending.  I would like to use this, but he said no way.  It will be quite the struggle.

  • You may flame me for my names, but DH and I really like traditional Irish (and Scottish names).  Girls were much easier then boys.

Girl: Moira Kathleen or Aisling Joan (I also like the name Nuala)

    Boy: Declan Laurence

  • Not really.  DH really likes the name Makayla.  The only name I am set on is Patrick.  It was my Pop's name.  It is also my dad's and my brother's name.  It can be a middle name or a first.  Just want it involved if we have a boy.

This. We change names so much. Right now we like Mia for a girl, still undecided on the middle name. I kinda like Aven as a middle name so Mia Aven W. and for boys we like Liam, Dax, Sebastian, Aiden so we won't know until for sure until I'm pg.

Yup.  Boys and girls both get the father's name as a middle name, and it is the same for all children.  So if I can talk him into this, all daughters would be Sergeevna, and all sons would be Sergeevich.  He's really not into it, so I'm trying to at least talk him into a second middle name that would only appear on the birth certificate, but the kid would never actually use it.

     Ok, ready for some cheese??

DH and I went to Ireland for our honeymoon in the middle of January.  While we were there, he was so inspired by the culture, he decided to explore it in his schooling.  He then completely changed his whole field based on it, and is now focusing on modern british writings, with a specialty in Irish writings after the Celtic Tiger.  And to AW him, he is damn good at what he does (he just had a publication in a very prestigious journal).  So to make a long story even longer, this is why the Irish names are so important to us.

this is how it is oon my side but his side the 1st boy is named after the father. Osiel (Oh-seal) is too hard to figure out how to say, I already have an Osiel and IMO i hate when you name a child something and call them by their middle name. Thats why we have 1st names...

For a girl I like Kaydence Leigh (Leigh is my middle) and for a boy its hard to find something that goes with Osiel for a middle name, right now it is Peyton Osiel

Same here! DH's family is Italian. I like DH's name but I don't want to continue the tradition...mainly because my maiden name can also be a boy's name so I'd like to use that for a MN. Selfish, perhaps...I don't know. The baby is already getting DH's last name so I'd like him to have something from my family as well!

DH would name the baby after an athlete if I would let him.

We have lots of girls names but few boys names. For a girl I always wanted an Ella, but now our last name rhymes with it so it's out. DH has always wanted a Chloe, which is so popular now that I'm not sure if I want to use it. But if we do I think she would be Chloe Esther.

  • I find it much easier to come up with girl names that I love than boy names.  I'm pretty sure that DH and I will be disagreeing up until the very end (i.e. on our way out of the hospital)  If we do have names picked out ahead of time, I think I'd like to keep them a secret from everyone until he/she is born.  I'd rather not hear everyone's opinion.

  • When we were naming DD we thought it was so much easier to find a girl name.  Our girl name list was twice as long as our boy name list.

We often bounce around ideas for our next baby.  Here are my favorites at the moment:

Girl:  Greta Cathlen (middle name is DH's mom)

Boy:  Caver Vernon (middle name is DH's dad)

DD's middle name is my mom's name so the nexy baby will be named after DH's family.

  • Nope. DH and I throw names around, but can't agree on anything. We had a list for boys and we had one girl name from when we were dating. Kind of like...if we ever get married, get pregnant AND have a girl, her name will be ______________. Turned out, we did get married, I did get pregnant and we did have a girl...so as soon as we found out, we knew her name. DD was named after both of our grandmothers.

     But this go around...no clue!

Boy: Most likely Nolan...not too sure about middle names though, there are many that I like! if we dont go with Nolan then maybe Casey.

Girl:  Kacey and Allie are the only 2 that I have thought of so far that I like!
