How long does a viral sore throat last?

Poor Mandi didnt get much sleep last night because her throat hurts so bad.  The dr said its probably viral since she tested negative for strep.  The poor kid is sucking on Ricola and using chloraseptic spray along with advil every 4 hours but neither are giving her much relief.

    Gargle with warm salt water. Its gross but it makes the throat feel better. It takes a couple of days to feel better. I had a terrible sore throat over the summer and even with antibiotics it took a good 5 days. If it doesn't get better soon I could call the Dr. back and get a script.
