"Dear Lord, I would have loved to have held my babies on my lap and tell them about you, but since I didn't get the chance, would you please hold them on your lap and tell them about me?"
DD 9/22/03 Our little sassypants!
DS 4/10/10 My little man is growing so fast
...I have no idea. But based on the effort already being put into mine... and its still 3 months away... I'm thinking I have to go bigger than a candle... I have no idea what is normal though...
My hostess for my shower w/ DD is my BFF from AZ, she flew in to host. I also had talked to her about being DD's godmother so she was really excited about that. I went to Things Remembered and bought her a bracelet (easy to travel back with) and had "godmother" engraved on it. She loved it. Things Remembered has such adorable gift ideas from book marks you can personalize for people who love to read, to knick knacks, picture frames, jewelry....I love that store.

I did something unique to each person's individual taste/interest from little local boutiques around town. For each hostess ( I had SIX!) I kept it to about $20 per person except two who I spent a bit more on.
Here is what I bought:
2 necklaces
1 pack of high-end stationary
1 cute apron
2 frames & photo books
I attached little gift cards thanking each person w/ pretty ribbon
I'll be giving freshwater pearl jewelry that I make myself. But I'm crafty. I would just go with whatever the hostess likes. Just keep in mind her tastes when going shopping. Good Luck!

I did monogrammed beach towels for my shower with DS but that was in July so more appropriate then I guess...I like giving something personalized/monogrammed gifts - like stationary, aprons, totes, etc...you can usually find the product inexpensive and monogramming can be as little as $5.
What I am usually given for all the showers I have hosted are Bath and Body Works products or candles...I have enough of those now to last me a lifetime!
I got both of mine something from Pottery Barn, a serving dish or tray.... if they host things a lot something to put food out in is always a good gift.
Re: Baby shower hostess gifts
I always have given Yankee Candle jar candles. They go over well.
