SOOO sorry for that weird multiple post, my computer completely freaked out.
Anyway, I told my daddy last night that I was preggers!! He's been out of town on a hunting trip in Colorado (I live in California). I have literally waited my entire life to tell my ad I am expecting!! I have always wanted to do it in person, so I knew I couldn't just call him on the phone while he was away.
Since he was away, we had a little time to prepare so my hubby nad I bought him a shirt that said "world's best grandpa". I told him it was a thank you gift for everything he did for me and my husband for our wedding, which was just in mid-September. He didn't suspect a thing!! He opened the package and the look on his face was PRICELESS!!! He looked at the shirt and looked at me, read it out loud, looked at me again, and stuttered..."you...you? you are...??? " It was the cutest thing!!
I am my dad's only child, but he LOVES kids. I know he would have wanted more after me, but my mom had a child from a previous marriage and decided she was done having kids. She didn't allow him to be involved in the process of the pregnancy, so I am going to be sure my dad is right there with me every step of the way to being a grandpa.
This was honestly one of the happiest and proudest moments of my life!
Re: No really - I told my daddy last night!!
aww.. so sweet. congrats! I like the whole "a gift for all that you did with the wedding".. I may steal that if you don't mind
Awww....that is so sweet! If I was at home reading this I'd probably be crying ! Congrats!
me too! haha.
That is great. When I told my dad the first time, I was so freakin scared. I felt like a teenager having to tell her dad (DH was nervous too). He was thrilled though.
That's so sweet! That definitely made me tear up because it made me miss my dad even more - he was killed in a car accident 5 years ago and I know he would have loved to have a grandchild. Oh well, you have to deal with what life gives you...
I hope you got a picture of his face!! Enjoy!
This. How cute!
Aww, that is so cool how you told him. I miss my dad, too.
my dad passed 6 days before our wedding in a motorcycle accident. I know how you feel.
Very sweet post; your dad is extremely lucky!! What a great grandpa!

How sweet! It sounds like you have a great dad!
Mine says wonderful things like "Oh, good luck with that".
Steal my kids picture or pretend they are yours, I will find where you live and ship all of their dirty diapers to your doorstep. Promise.
That is wonderful!! I wish my dad would be more involved. I haven't talked to him since I was 9w. He doesn't even call to check on me...
I envy your relationship with your father! Congrats by the way!!
Thanks everybody!!! I do truly know how blessed I am to have a father who not only loves me to death, but also loves my husband and is proud of the choices I have made and the life I have for myself now. My dad's goal in life was to make MY life as special as possible in every way possible. He succeeded. It is the least I can do to give him the gift of grandchildren
I will miss having my grandmother here with us to share in the joy of a great-grandchild, she would be just as thrilled as my dad. Cancer took her way too early, I know she's MY guardian angel, I can only hope she can watch over my baby as well!
I always tell people it doesn't get easier.. it gets different and life becomes bitter sweet. My Dad passed 2.5 years before our wedding and now we are having the first grandchild... very emotional time for my family.. both happy and sad!
aww, that's so cute!
my dad said "oh, well i wish you were more financially stable....." GEE. THANKS DAD!
i went and told my stepdad at the bar he was at. he immediately started crying and made the whole bar do a shot in honor of the baby.... i had a shot of water. haha.
