3rd Trimester

no motivation, losing steam

I thought I could power through this last part of pregnancy and get everything done that I need to.

I work two jobs, teaching and retail, and go to school at night twice a week. So far it hasn't been tooooo bad. I am tired but I have managed to get through it without missing any work or class.

But this week it feels like it has caught up to me big time. Yesterday I worked, went to a doctors appointment, then my night class. I barely slept last night because of these back pains and pressure in my lower half.

Today I am tired, uncomfortable and at work. After teaching I am working 4 hours at the store, so I won't be home until 9ish

Tomorrow I have work and class again... and Thursday looks just like today.

Friday after work I have a sports banquet to attend with DH because he coaches Cross Country. His boys went to states and did very well (yay!)

And this weekend I am going to my parents for my baby shower weekend (finally some rest?)

I'm just so burnt out already, and looking at all of that just makes me even more tired. I just want to skip it all and go home and sleep. But that isn't being very responsible, and I took all of this on, wanting to get as much done as possible before baby.

How do you ladies get through difficult weeks? How do you keep yourself going?

I'm just hitting a major wall

Re: no motivation, losing steam

  • I'm with you though my plate isn't nearly as full! I'm on bed rest until my induction next week but have no real motivation left! It's horrible because I want to keep working until I'm induced! ugghhh

    Good luck!

  • I'm relying on DH for more these days.  About a week ago, he said "your wheels are starting to wobble."  He's helping out around the house a bunch, that's made a difference.

  • Sounds like you need to take a day of from at least 2 of those things and recharge your batteries....actually take a weekend off with you SO and you will be surprised at how good you can feel again.
  • This will be the hardest week of my pregnancy. We are moving, I am planning Thanksgiving (hopefully I am still pregnant then), working a high stress job, and planning my leave/training a back up as much as possible. Its crazy but I just try not to think about it. If I think of everything in one sitting I might have a breakdown! Good luck!
  • yep, it doesn't seem fair the amount of work we have to do to prepare ourselves for the work of motherhood! I keep telling myself to take one day at a time and while i am anxious and fed up with no slelep and being umcomfortable, that he will be here soon enough and it will all be o.k.  Goodluck!
  • Goodness woman! Just reading this made me tired! Are you sure there isn't anything you can cut back on? You need to take care of yourself!

For your sleep troubles, I would try a yoga dvd (if you can fit anythign more into your day!). I found that it helped relieve a lot of my aches and pains. Another thing you could try is some hypnosis techniques. I've always had a terrible time falling asleep, but since I've begun using a homestudy Hypnobabies course for labor and using those techniques before going to bed at night, I've been able to fall asleep quickly and easily and I sleep deeply too!

Good luck, I feel for you!

  • At a minimum, I would skip the sports banquet. It seems like the least essential activity, and surely your DH (and others) would understand that you're not feeling up to it.

If you can, I'd strongly recommend taking a sick day once this week. Spend the whole day resting, and you'll be amazed by how much better you feel. I'm not the biggest advocate of skipping work -- and I know you're probably trying to save all your time for maternity leave -- but your health and your baby's health comes first right now.

  • Oh wow!! I am nowhere near as busy as you and I feel like I'm dying! If you feel tired or just need a rest, take a day off for yourself!! Don't feel guilty about it, now is the best time to take advantage of relaxing, and it sounds like you NEED it!! Take care!
