We have wood blinds in the windows already. Can't decide which we should get. I like the look of curtains, but wonder if we should get valances, so the baby isn't able to pull on them. Thoughts?
I have roman shades, curtains, and valances but thats because the nursery gets a lot of morning sun and I want to encourage baby to sleep well beyond sunrise if possible!! However, I know a lot of babies are not that sensitive to light so maybe its just overkill. I also like all the layers for retaining heat in the room since our old house can be drafty at times. My crib is not really near the windows so the baby pulling on the curtains is not an issue for me personally.

We did floor to ceiling curtains with a blackout liner but my decision was based solely on aesthetics. I hate the look of blinds and valances so we went with curtains.
We just put up the valance. I was thinking of putting panel up as well but I'm too lazy. So we only put up the valance and we also have wood blinds up so we figure valance is enough.
We have wood blinds on every window in the house. ?I personally do not like curtains, but they are a must for baby/kids rooms. ?We have room darkening ones in both of our boys' room, but they are only rooms in the house that have curtains at all. ?In the baby's room I also put up valances, as they are colorful and the curtains are just?solid?khaki.?

We have regular blinds on the window and I bought inexpensive curtains and then a valance to match her bedding and I love the way it looks together. The curtains alone didn't look nearly as good.
we did valance with DD so they were not a risk for her later...will probably do same with this baby. Also we did the blackout roll up shade over the blinds too - a MUST in my opinion.
Re: Curtains vs. Valances
We have curtains...I'm just not a fan of valances in general; they're NMS.
I'd really only be concerned about curtains if they're within reach of the crib.
